โ˜€ Reminder: Take extra care of yourself on hot days like today!

Many people don't realize that some medications, including certain medications used to treat mental health conditions, can affect the body's ability to regulate temperature, increase sweating (or decrease it), or contribute to dehydration.

That doesn't mean you should stop taking your medication. It simply means it's important to be mindful during periods of extreme heat.

A few simple ways to stay safe:
๐Ÿ’งDrink plenty of water throughout the day.
๐ŸŒณTake breaks in air conditioning or the shade when possible.
๐Ÿ‘•Wear lightweight clothing and avoid prolonged time in direct sun.
โ—Pay attention to symptoms like dizziness, nausea, confusion, headache, or excessive fatigue, which can be signs of heat-related illness.

If you have questions about how your medications may affect you in hot weather, speak with your prescribing provider or pharmacist. They can help you understand any precautions that may be appropriate for you.

Stay safe, stay cool, and take good care of yourself this week. ๐Ÿ’š

Happy International Self-Care Day!

When people hear the words "self-care," they often picture elaborate spa days or expensive getaways. But in reality, self-care is often much simpler and much more personal.

For some, it's quiet time with a good book. For others, it's journaling, catching up on sleep, taking a drive with your favorite music, enjoying a favorite treat, or simply giving yourself permission to slow down.

We asked some of our clinicians what self-care looks like for them, and their answers are a wonderful reminder that caring for yourself doesn't have to be complicated. The best form of self-care is the one that helps you rest, recharge, and reconnect with yourself.

As we start today and head into the weekend, we encourage you to ask yourself:
"What does self-care look like for me today?"

Maybe it's five quiet minutes. Maybe it's saying "no." Maybe it's reaching out for support.

Whatever it is, remember that taking care of yourself isn't selfish. It's an important part of caring for your mental health. ๐Ÿ’š

From all of us at Restore Counseling & Recovery, we hope you find a few moments today to extend yourself the same kindness you so freely offer others.

The brain is so beautifully complex. It also possesses an incredible ability to change, adapt, and heal. ๐Ÿง โœจ

We don't "just talk" in therapy. We actively work to rewire negative thought patterns, heal from trauma, and build new neural pathways. This process is called neuroplasticity, and it proves that no matter what you have been through, your brain has the capacity to build a healthier future.

This World Brain Day, remember that caring for your mental health is an important form of caring for your brain. You don't have to navigate the complexities alone. ๐Ÿ’š

๐ŸŒท Spring is often associated with renewal, but growth rarely looks like a sudden transformation.

More often, it looks like small steps: asking for support, setting boundaries, showing yourself patience, or choosing to keep going on difficult days.

Healing and growth take time...but like spring itself, they arrive one small change at a time. ๐ŸŒฑ
