This Labor Day, meet the future of the primary care workforce!

Frank, Priyan, Michelle, Akua, Paul, and Parth are bright, passionate resident physicians, immersed in community-based primary care in the Greater Lowell community.

They’re serving Greater Lowell as part of the new Lowell Community Health Center | Tufts Medicine | Family Medicine Residency. With fewer physicians choosing to build their career in primary care and services becoming tougher to access, Lowell Community Health Center responded to the moment and built a workforce pipeline that expands access in their community. The Lowell CHC-led residency, in partnership with Tufts Medicine and Tufts University School of Medicine, is only the second to be based in a Massachusetts community health center.

As residents, Frank, Priyan, Michelle, Akua, Paul, and Parth are training alongside health center physicians, building relationships with patients, and learning firsthand the importance of community-responsive primary care. Meanwhile, their patients benefit from greater access to preventive health services and the expertise of academic medicine, right in the community they call home.

The challenges facing primary care in Massachusetts are great, but the Lowell CHC, Tufts Medicine, and Tufts University School of Medicine partnership shows us that with investment and innovation we can make primary care accessible to all who need it.

Last weekend, Lowell Community Health Center had a great time taking part in the Lowell Southeast Asian Water Festival and connecting with members of our community.

Our team was on hand throughout the festival providing:
Health insurance counseling
Blood pressure screenings
Referrals to Lowell Community Health Center
Preventive health information and services
