Grief accompanies uncomfortable emotions that can be difficult to sit with and process. It can feel easier to bypass our feelings by avoiding them, distracting ourselves, numbing the pain, or disconnecting rather than processing them. This can look like getting frustrated when loved ones ask about your grief or filling your schedule to avoid being alone.
While grief is different for everyone, and it’s okay to say “I don’t want to talk about it,” or “ I cannot be alone right now.” It’s also essential to be intentional about processing our emotions in a healthy way. If you are walking through grief, remember to acknowledge your emotions and not judge yourself for the way you feel. Try naming your emotions, finding time to meditate, and identifying the root of the emotion. This can look like a good cry, or journaling about your experiences that day.
At Gerst, we want to come alongside you in every season of grief and provide you with the resources and support to help you step towards healthy processing to heal. for more visit our resources page//bit.ly/4ombP3c
