Weāve been talking at home about the qualities of creation (Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda both have great descriptive ways of visualizing what this means) and how to navigate finding balance and harmony in our own lives.
A theme that I keep noticing show up in both our life and other people I talk to is how heavily masculine our culture in America operates. This is typical āhustle cultureā or āthe daily grindā trying to produce produce produce. The imbalance this creates is a lack of stillness, reflection, rest, and recovery. The disharmony created looks like stress, anger, ungrounded, getting sick often, feeling exhausted or overwhelmed, burnout, or fatigue. Winter is the season that calls us out the most on this. Winter asks us to slow down, to pull our energy back inward for reflection and recovery, to remember stillness and reflection. The feminine energy. When we continue functioning more masculine/yang during a heavily feminine/yin season we might feel this more intensely in the form of colds and flu, feeling tired or exhausted, or anxious and agitated.
Our family has talked about ways in which we can honor the season so that we feel balanced in our own bodies and minds. Some things we came up with are getting outside as often as possible, deep breathing, low lights and calm enjoyable activities in the evenings, eating dinner early, and eating nourishing foods.
What are some of your favorite winter go-tos that bring harmony to your life?
