Many of the people that I see who are dealing with grief feel that they should be over the feeling in a matter of days or weeks - they push down their pain and shame themselves when the feelings arise again.
Listen to the echo. Understand that the only way out is through. You are human and grief is its own journey of ups and downs.🙏
Tears fall because sometimes words just don’t cut it.
They’re the soul’s way of saying, "this mattered."
And yeah, it’s messy, and yeah, it’s hard to let go, but crying isn’t weakness, it’s proof you loved enough to hurt this much.
So let it out.
Don’t hold back.
Nobody’s watching as closely as you think.
I feel like this quote from the album Free to Be You and Me is kinda perfect: "it's alright to cry, crying gets the sad out of you."
I always carry a tissue in my pocket because life has a way of catching me off guard. A memory, a moment, a goodbye I wasn't ready for; grief doesn't schedule itself. It just shows up and I have learned to be ready when it does.
And so I cry - a lot and often. Not because I am weak, but because I have lived, and I have loved, and I have lost.
The deeper the love, the longer the echo.
