Glamour shots with the Restoration in the Pines gals! 📸✨

(If you're old enough to remember Glamour Shots, there's a good chance you've recently gotten excited about under-eye cream and an 8:30 PM bedtime. 😂)

I'm so thankful for this group of ladies—passionate about mental health, dedicated to serving others, and genuinely kind humans. Grateful to be on this team. ❤️

I’m photoshopping Meridyth Byrd into these pictures when she gets back from maternity leave with her sweet Byrd baby.

To every mom who smiled through the exhaustion today, who held it together when she was falling apart inside I see you. 💛
We don't stop. We don't slow down. We just keep going because that's what moms do. The laundry, the appointments, the mental load, the worrying at 2am. We wake up and do it all over again. And we rarely stop to ask ourselves if we're actually okay because the show must go on.
But "just keep going" shouldn't mean suffering in silence.
Think about it this way, you wouldn't skip your oil change and tire rotation and expect your car to keep running smoothly. Therapy is the same thing. It's not about something being wrong with you. It's maintenance. It's building the skills you need for long term success as a mom, a woman, a human being.

If you've been feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or just not like yourself lately, you don't have to figure it out alone. I'd love to help.

Happy Mother’s Day to every kind of mom out there. 💐
To the moms raising their birth children, adopted children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, bonus kids, and every child who found their way into your care—today we celebrate you.
Motherhood doesn’t come from one single path. Sometimes it’s biology, sometimes it’s paperwork, sometimes it’s a family crisis, and sometimes it’s simply a heart big enough to say, “I’ve got you.” However those children came into your life, the love, patience, late nights, snack negotiations, pep talks, and endless rides across town are all very real.
You are cherished. You are deeply loved. And whether you realize it or not, you are changing lives❤️
No one could ever take your place, and you are exactly the mom your child needs.
Also, let’s be honest—if surviving homework, laundry piles, emotional meltdowns, and the mysterious disappearance of every matching sock doesn’t qualify you for superhero status… I’m not sure what does. 😉
Today we honor your strength, your sacrifices, your humor, and the incredible impact you make every single day.
Happy Mother’s Day to the women who show up, step up, and love big. The world is better because of you. 💕

The summer countdown is getting REAL… and for many kids that means sleeping in, playing outside, and finally getting a break from the daily grind. ☀️

For parents, summer can also be something else: the moment when you realize that some of the behaviors from the school year didn’t magically stay at school.

If your child struggled this year with big emotions, shutting down, arguing, impulsive decisions, or nightly homework battles, here’s the honest truth: those behaviors usually don’t just *disappear* with sunshine and popsicles.

In fact, research in child development consistently shows that challenging behaviors are often the result of missing or underdeveloped skills, not a child simply “choosing to be difficult.” They are having a hard time. Psychologists call this the skills lag. Kids may still be learning things like emotional regulation, frustration tolerance, flexible thinking, and problem-solving.

Studies also show that early support matters. Children who receive behavioral or emotional skill-building support earlier are significantly more likely to improve coping, relationships, and school success over time. Waiting and hoping it “just goes away” often means the pattern continues into the next school year.

The good news? Skills can be taught... in fact they can be taught while eating a popsicle. Summer can actually be the perfect time to do it. Without the daily pressure of school schedules, tests, and homework, kids often have more mental space to practice new coping and communication skills.

So if this past school year had some moments where you thought, "Whew… we might need a little help with that," summer might be the perfect time to start building those skills.

Think of it less like fixing a problem and more like giving your child a new set of tools before the next school year begins. You would send them to pitching practice if they wanted to be a pitcher... why wouldn't you consider sending them to someone that can help them train to be an emotionally regulated individual.

And hey, if the only thing your child works on this summer is swimming, riding bikes, and eating watermelon… that’s pretty great too. 🍉

But if you noticed some behaviors this year that didn’t feel like just a “phase,” support now can make next year a whole lot smoother for everyone.

🌸 SHE WON. ALYSSA NIX, come get your PRIZE 🌸
You were nominated, celebrated, and chosen and I could not be more excited to gift you this basket. You deserve it and so much more.

But can I say something to every single mom who didn't win?
You are doing something incredibly hard. And you are doing it amazingly.
Every school pickup, every packed lunch, every "mom can you..." at 10 PM, every time you held it together when you were running on nothing ... that matters.
You matter.
And I genuinely wish I could put a basket on every one of your doorsteps.
Moms pour into everybody else and sometimes nobody pours back.
Consider this me pouring. 💛
Alyssa — DM me so we can get this to you!
And to everyone else thank you for nominating the incredible women in your life.

Stay tuned... because this won't be the last time we celebrate the moms in our community. 👀

Moms truly deserve a 5-day, all-inclusive vacation for Mother’s Day… but unfortunately that wasn’t in my giveaway budget this year. 😆

So instead, I’m putting together a little mental-health-minded care package for one deserving mama. Because when you’re in the trenches of pregnancy, postpartum, and early motherhood, sometimes a small reminder that you’re seen and supported can go a long way.

It’s nothing extravagant just a few thoughtful goodies (that I personally love) and a reminder that you’re doing something really hard, and you’re doing it amazingly well!

💛 **How to enter:**
Tag a new or expecting mama and share why you’re grateful to have her in your life or how she’s absolutely crushing it in this season.

I’ll draw a name **this Friday**!

Let’s take a minute to hype up the incredible moms in our community. They deserve it.

🧠 A little truth from your therapist — said with so much love:
One hour of therapy every two weeks is a beautiful start. But on its own? It's not enough to create the change you're hoping for. One hour that is surrounded by 335 others.
Think of it this way — it's like hiring a personal trainer, showing up once a week, and then wondering why the scale isn't moving. The trainer can give you every tool, every strategy, every bit of encouragement in the world... but they can't do the reps for you. 💙
That's not a criticism. That's just how change works.
The real growth happens in the quiet moments between our sessions. The deep breath before you respond instead of react. The boundary you hold even when it's uncomfortable. The journal entry at 10pm when your thoughts won't quiet down. The small, unglamorous, incredibly brave daily practice.
I am always in your corner. But I need you in your corner too.
If you've been feeling stuck in your healing journey, gently ask yourself:
👉 Am I practicing the tools we talk about?
👉 Am I showing up for myself between sessions?
👉 What's one small thing I could do this week?
You don't have to do it perfectly. You just have to do it.

Healing isn't something that happens to you in my office — it's something you build, one small choice at a time. And I get to walk alongside you while you do.

My first baby was very easygoing. He smiled, ate, slept, and repeated! My second child was not. She had feeding troubles, and her first few months of life were filled with tears.

When people would ask me (with zero intention of being unkind), “Is she a good baby?” it would almost instantly make my eyes fill with tears. She was not a bad baby, but by our culture’s standards she probably wouldn’t qualify as a “good” baby.

I realized I needed to change my mindset, and I started chuckling when I would respond with, “Well, she has not robbed a bank yet, so I see her as an upstanding citizen.”

So here’s a friendly Friday reminder to all the mamas out there just surviving the newborn trenches… If your baby is not a “chill” baby:

This is a season, and it is very short.
You are a rockstar who deserves some chicken minis (so go get some).
Your baby is perfect and is not a “bad” baby. Laugh at the well-intended question and choose to see it as outdated instead of offensive.

Happy Friday.
