The part patients remember most is rarely the procedure. It is the person who checked on you in recovery, explained what happens next, and made sure you left knowing exactly what to do at home.

Grateful for the surgical team that shows up for our patients every day.

Thyroid nodules are common, and most are non-cancerous. When they grow large enough to cause pressure in the neck, trouble swallowing, or a visible lump, surgery has traditionally been the answer. There is now another option at South Carolina ENT.
Radiofrequency Ablation, or RFA, is a non-surgical procedure that uses a small needle and ultrasound guidance to gently shrink benign thyroid nodules. Studies have shown nodules can shrink by up to 80 percent, often eliminating the need for surgery altogether. Dr. Walsh Thomas is the first physician in the Midlands of South Carolina to offer this procedure.

Enlarged tonsils or adenoids can block airflow during sleep, and that can show up as restless nights, mouth breathing, daytime tiredness, or changes in behavior.

Dr. Adam Abram explains which pediatric symptoms usually start with your pediatrician and which ones are worth bringing straight to an ENT.

Noise-induced hearing loss builds gradually, and summer is full of the sounds that cause it. Lawn equipment, power tools, boat engines, and live music can all exceed safe listening levels, and the damage adds up over time.

The good news is that it is preventable. Wear hearing protection during loud activities, give your ears breaks, and if you have noticed ringing or muffled hearing after noise exposure, schedule a hearing evaluation with our audiology team.
