Today was one of those moments that reminds me why I do this work.

I walked into this conference as a doula and maternal health advocate. I left realizing that The Village is becoming something much bigger.

To be in rooms where maternal health, mental health, substance use recovery, and community support are being discussed at a systems level is both humbling and exciting. The conversations happening today have the potential to shape outcomes for mothers and babies across our region.

Thank you to everyone who stopped to talk, connect, collaborate, and share ideas. The future of maternal health is built through partnerships and today was full of them.

The work continues. 💜

A gentle reminder for all the parents out there:

Parenting is not one-size-fits-all.

What works beautifully for one child may completely fall apart with another. Some children need more structure. Some need more connection. Some need extra time, patience, movement, reassurance, or support.

Your family is unique. Your child is unique. And you are allowed to parent according to the needs of the child in front of you. not the opinions of people on the sidelines.

The goal isn't raising children who look perfectly behaved in public. The goal is raising children who feel safe, loved, understood, and equipped to navigate the world. In return, behaviors improve.

If we focus on behavior management vs heart posture and development, we miss such a crucial part of their growth.

Give yourself permission to learn your child, adjust your approach, and grow along the way. Parenting isn't about perfection, it's about relationship.

You're not failing because your child needs something different. You're parenting the child God gave you.

I was visiting one of my clients yesterday when a friend needed a little help feeding her baby.

So I did what doulas do.

We slowed down, practiced paced bottle feeding, burped after each ounce, and followed baby’s cues. Before long, this sweet little one was calm, content, and resting peacefully.

Sometimes support looks like birth plans and education.

Sometimes it looks like holding a baby in the sunshine and helping a parent feel a little more confident.

This is what building back the village looks like. 💕

Looking back at these photos, I'm reminded that I wasn't just carrying twins

I was preparing to become a mother of three boys under two years old.

At the time, I had no idea how much strength that season would require or how much it would change me.

Those babies didn't just grow my family. They grew my resilience, my compassion, and ultimately my passion for supporting other mothers.

Today, every family I serve reminds me why building back the village matters.

Because mothers were never meant to do this alone. 💙💙
