Lilypad Speech & Language Therapy, PLLC Pediatric private practice speech therapy in Lynbrook, NY. Play based child led speech and language services with an emphasis on family and caregiver coaching.

Serving families on Long Island, Queens and other surrounding areas. Based on Long Island in Long Beach, NY, Lily Goldberg, M.S., CCC-SLP, TSSLD is a certified Speech-Language-Pathologist in New York State. Lily received her bachelor's degree in Speech and Language Hearing Sciences from Hofstra University, and her master's degree in Speech- Language- Pathology from CUNY Brooklyn. She holds her certification of clinical competency (CCC) from the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and is certified as a Teacher of Children with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD) in New York State. Lily is also trained and certified in SPEAK OUT!® and LSVTLOUD® for individuals with Parkinson's Disease.

Lily has extensive experience with speech and language disorders including but not limited to: voice disorders, articulation, language, fluency, social skills and pragmatics, and early intervention. She has worked in public and charter schools, private practice, itinerant preschool services, early intervention home based health care, and as a Supervisor in the Hofstra University Speech & Language Therapy Clinic where she taught and trained future Speech Therapists. Lily specializes in voice disorders and early language delays and disorders. She has experience with various voice disorders in the ENT office setting, such as: vocal nodules, polyps, etc, vocal abuse and misuse, vocal hygiene, acid reflux. She focuses her treatment on diaphragmatic breathing work, semi occluded voice therapy, resonance voice therapy, and vocal function exercises. She has worked in early intervention as both a therapist and supervisor for more than 5 years now. Lily believes in a functional, family centered approach to treatment and creating goals to tailor therapy for each individual.

When Lily is not practicing Speech Therapy she runs an interactive kids music class, likes to go to the beach, play guitar, read, and spend time with her husband and daughter.

I opened the mom group and immediately had to put my speech therapist hat on. 🫠

Some advice gets a 10/10. Some gets a one-way ticket to internet jail. 🚔

When you’re worried about your child’s speech, 47 conflicting comments can leave you with more questions than you started with. And somehow, someone always has a cousin who didn’t talk until kindergarten.

You deserve support without the guilt, the pressure, or the suggestion that you need to quit your job and become a full-time speech therapist. 💜

“He’s not listening.”
“She keeps throwing things.”
“He gets frustrated over everything.”

But what if we stopped asking, “How do I stop this behavior?” and started asking, “What is my child trying to tell me?” 💭

Sometimes what looks like a behavior problem is actually a child struggling to communicate.

💜 Throwing might mean “I need help.”
💜 Crying might mean “I’m overwhelmed.”
💜 Avoiding might mean “This is too hard.”
💜 Acting out might mean “I don’t have the words yet.”

Not every challenging behavior is caused by a language delay, but communication is always worth considering.

At Lilypad, we look beyond the behavior to understand the child. Through play-based speech therapy and parent coaching, we help children build the communication skills they need to express themselves and help caregivers recognize and respond to those attempts.

Because when we support communication, we can often reduce frustration, too. 🌱

POV: You think speech therapy should look like flashcards and worksheets.

Then you walk into a session and see us feeding dinosaurs, crashing cars, and building towers.

It doesn't look like therapy.

But every toy, every pause, every model, and every interaction is intentional.

I'm constantly deciding whether to wait, model, expand language, create a communication opportunity, or simply follow your child's lead.

Because the goal isn't to get children to "perform."

The goal is to help them communicate naturally, confidently, and joyfully in the moments that matter most.

The toys aren't the therapy.

The communication happening around them is.

I’ve known for a very long time that I was never going to be a 9–5, sit-at-a-desk, ask-permission-to-take-a-day-off kind of person.

I’ve also never been particularly good at being told what to do. 😂

So naturally, I opened my own speech therapy practice.

And now I have approximately 47 jobs, a never-ending to-do list, an inability to turn my brain off, and a boss (me) who has absolutely no concept of work-life balance.

But here’s the part I don’t joke about.

Life has been really, really hard lately. And there have been days when showing up for everyone else while trying to hold myself together has felt almost impossible.

But somehow, when I walk into Lilypad, get on the floor with my clients, laugh with their families, and watch these little humans do amazing things, I feel like myself again.

I didn’t start this business because I wanted to work less. I started it because I wanted to build something that felt like ME.

And even on the days when everything else feels completely out of my control, I’m really freaking proud of what I’ve built.

Still wouldn’t recommend being my own boss though. She’s a little unhinged. 😂

“Just playing” 😉 Except we’re actually sneaking in a whole lot of communication work while your little one is busy having fun.

Play gives us SO many natural opportunities to work on requesting, commenting, turn-taking, following directions, expanding language + more. Basically… they think we’re playing. We know there’s a plan. 💜
