Are Your Shoes Wearing Out Faster Than You Think?
Your shoes may be wearing out long before they look worn out.
Many people continue wearing the same shoes because they still look fine on the outside. Unfortunately, the cushioning, arch support, and shock absorption inside the shoe often break down much sooner than the outer material.
When that happens, your feet have to work harder with every step. Over time, worn-out shoes can contribute to heel pain, arch discomfort, knee pain, and even lower back problems.
Here are a few signs it may be time for a new pair:
The soles are worn unevenly or have become smooth.
Your feet feel more tired after walking or standing.
You notice new aches in your heels, arches, knees, or back.
The shoes feel less comfortable than they used to.
A good rule of thumb: walking shoes typically need replacement every 300 to 500 miles, depending on your weight, activity level, and the type of shoe.
If you're experiencing foot pain and aren't sure whether your shoes are part of the problem, we can help evaluate your footwear, gait, and support needs.
