A Little Tarot Talk for October 2026
October begins with Venus turning retrograde on 10/3 and I find it interesting that the first card I pulled for us this month is the High Priestess reversed.
For me, she is asking us to take the blinders off when it comes to how we see ourselves. Are we looking at ourselves clearly? Are we still wearing a mask, playing a role, or holding onto a version of ourselves that we have outgrown? Venus retrograde can bring our attention back to our relationships, our values and, perhaps most importantly, the relationship we have with ourselves.
Next to her is The Star, bringing back a sense of hope and optimism. The Star reminds us that once we are willing to see things differently, we can begin to release some of the emotions, beliefs and old stories that no longer serve us. We can make room for something new.
On the other side of The Star is the Knight of Cups, I see him helping us reconcile some of these emotions so that we can truly begin moving forward. There is movement here, but it doesn't feel rushed. It feels like moving at a pace that allows us to understand what we are feeling while still making the changes we know we want to make.
I also feel that the Knight of Cups is asking us to find our inner strength and confidence through this process. Pay attention to what you are moving toward. Are your choices reflecting who you are now, or who you used to be?
And just as we are working through all of this, Mercury turns retrograde on October 24, giving us another opportunity to review, rethink and reconsider. With Venus retrograde through November 13 and Mercury retrograde from October 24 through November 13, the end of the month may give us an extra push to look inward before deciding what comes next.
Maybe October isn't asking us to have all the answers.
Maybe it's simply asking us to take off the mask, be honest about what we see, and give ourselves permission to move forward from there.
