2026 overdose memorial. A little different this year. We put together every note, memory and obituary we have collected over the years. It was a heartbreaking project. So much death. We keep it all because we want people to know we haven’t forgotten your person. We haven’t forgotten the long years of….hey did you hear about…. For many of us out here everyday is overdose awareness day. We are acutely aware. We hosted our evening at the office with intention. It’s a community out here, whether you get it or not. We cried, we sang to the spirits and we danced because grief can be expressed in many forms. Thank you from all of us at 100 Willow for coming out and honoring so many lives and loves lost.

Cool rant after yet another meeting and a new anonymous facebook post. Everyone always asks us WHAT ABOUT TREATMENT???!!??! As if a we do not offer it or support it or offer rides to it or know all kinds of options for folks. It's a weird assumption. Anyhow, should take my own advice...don't read the comments!

Healthy Streets in Lynn, MA hosted one of the first overdose vigils in Massachusetts in 2005. This event sparked statewide memorials to honor people we have lost. Individuals gathering together to provide support, to listen and to come out of the shadows.
Back then saying you lost someone to overdose was heavily stigmatized. People were shamed. We saw a need to bring our people out, offer a safe and loving space to grieve, love and remember.
We will be building a living memorial with flowers, listening to music and lighting candles. We will do the reading of the names and sit in community together.
For the people, by the people, with the people. All the love.
