Recently, our nurses Megan Nelson, RN, Morgan Michaelis, LPN, and Chandra Michaelis, RN, had the opportunity to attend emergency preparedness training at the Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) in Anniston, Alabama, through a FEMA-supported program.

During this intensive training, they completed the Hospital Emergency Response Training for Mass Casualty Incidents (HERT) Train-the-Trainer course, earning certification as instructors qualified to lead and teach Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) classes. They also participated in an Integrated Capstone Event, a full-scale emergency response exercise designed to test and strengthen their skills in realistic disaster scenarios.

We want to thank FEMA for the opportunity we were given for this training and hope to send more people in the future as we build our HERT team!

The Mitchell family generously donated a Cuddle Cot in loving memory of their daughter, Norah Lynette Mitchell, who was born sleeping.

We are profoundly grateful for their compassion and generosity. Their gift will provide comfort, support, and precious time for families facing the unimaginable loss of a baby.

The Cuddle Cot is a gentle cooling system designed to help preserve precious moments between families and their babies. With its soft cooling pad and quiet operation, it allows parents and loved one's additional time to hold, cradle, and create meaningful memories together. These moments can be invaluable as families navigate grief and say their final goodbyes.

Through this thoughtful donation, Norah’s memory will continue to touch the lives of countless families, offering comfort, connection, and care during some of life’s most difficult moments.

✨ Full circle moment at Rice Community Hospital ✨

One of our own nurses recently had the chance to see a familiar face years later. During a Lyons Middle School hospital tour, a young woman walked through our doors who wasn't just any former patient—she was a baby our nurse, Angie, helped deliver many years ago.

What makes this story even more special is that this young woman was named after Angie.

Moments like these remind us of the lasting impact healthcare professionals have on the lives and families they serve. Seeing the next generation walk through our halls is a powerful reminder of why we do what we do.

Stories like this make all the difference.

❤️Happy CNA Week!❤️

Did you know that Certified Nursing Assistants walk an average 8,000 - 15,000 steps every shift? That's up to 7 miles a day - all while providing compassionate, hands-on care to those who need it most.

CNAs are truly the heart and backbone of healthcare-offering comfort, kindness, and support every single day.

Thank you for your dedication, your strength, and your compassion. We appreciate everything you do!

From battlefield tents to bustling hospital halls, nursing has always been the heart of healthcare.

This Nurses Week, we're celebrating the incredible nurses of Rice Community Health by honoring the generations of nurses who came before them - from the courage and sacrifice of WWI nurses, to the compassionate caregivers of the 1950's, to the dedicated professionals of the 1980's and today.

While uniforms and technology may have changed throughout the decades, one thing has remained the same: the compassion, strength, and dedication nurses bring to their patients every single day.

Thank you to our amazing nursing team for carrying forward a legacy of care, healing, and service. We are proud of the difference you make in our community every day.

Happy Nurses Week and thank you, nurses - past, present, and future.

One week ago, our community showed up in a big way. 💙

Last Friday, we hosted the 30th Annual Rice Community Healthcare Foundation Golf Tournament Presented by Imagine IT, Inc. , and thanks to our golfers, sponsors, donors, volunteers, staff, and everyone who helped make the day possible, we raised more than $30,000 for our mammography program.

That number matters because it represents more than a successful tournament. It represents earlier detection. More local access. More women getting care close to home. More families who can trust that high-quality healthcare is available right here in Rice County.

For 30 years, this tournament has brought people together in support of Rice Community Health, and this year was such a beautiful reminder of what makes our community special. People gave their time, their resources, their energy, and their hearts to something that will truly make a difference.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping us continue to care for the people we love, right here at home.

This school year, our Radiology Department had the wonderful opportunity to host Kinsley, a student intern from Little River HS College & Career Readiness.

Kinsley joined us in August and quickly became part of the team. Over the past several months, she has had the chance to learn alongside our radiology staff, ask great questions, and get a behind-the-scenes look at what a career in healthcare can look like right here in our rural community.

These opportunities matter. They help students explore their future, build confidence, and see the many meaningful career paths available close to home.

A big thank you to Penny and our entire Radiology Department for welcoming Kinsley, teaching her, encouraging her, and showing her compassionate care in action.

Best of luck, Kinsley! We are so grateful you spent this school year with us.
