A positive pregnancy test is only the first step.

An ultrasound provides important information that a pregnancy test cannot.

An ultrasound can help determine:
• Whether the pregnancy is developing as expected (viability)
• How far along the pregnancy is (gestational age)
• Whether the pregnancy is located inside the uterus

This information matters because some pregnancies end naturally in miscarriage, while others may develop outside the uterus (called an ectopic pregnancy), which requires immediate medical care.

Knowing your gestational age also helps you better understand your pregnancy and the options available to you.

No matter where you are in your journey, having accurate information can help you make informed decisions with confidence.

Sometimes the first emotion isn't joy. Sometimes it's anger.

Anger at yourself. Anger at someone else.

Anger at the situation.

Maybe even anger at how unfair life feels.

Those feelings don't make you a bad person. They simply reveal that your heart is hurting.

Holding onto anger can feel like protection, but often it becomes another burden to carry. Healing begins when we allow ourselves to lay that weight down. Forgiveness doesn't excuse what happened, and it doesn't mean pretending everything is okay. It simply opens the door for peace to begin replacing pain.

No matter what brought you here, your story isn't over. There is room for healing. There is room for hope. There is room for grace.

💛 Healing often begins with a conversation. Visit hopeforlifemaine.com to explore the free resources available to you or schedule a confidential appointment. You can also call (207)259-6151. Maybe you thought this chapter of your life had already closed.

Perhaps your children are older, your plans looked different, or you never imagined starting over. It's okay if you're feeling surprised, uncertain, or even grieving the life you expected.

Sometimes life's greatest blessings arrive wrapped in unexpected timing. While today may not look like the future you pictured, it doesn't mean your story has lost its beauty. New beginnings often come when we least expect them.

Your future isn't defined by what changed—it's shaped by what is still possible.
You don't have to have it all figured out today. Just know that hope has a way of growing, even in unexpected places.

Did you know?

Emergency contraception (often called the morning-after pill) is designed to lower the chance of pregnancy after unprotected s*x, but how it works depends on where you are in your menstrual cycle.

There are two common types:
• Plan B One-Step® (progestin-only), which is most effective when taken within 72 hours.
• ella® (ulipristal), which may be taken up to five days after unprotected s*x.
Emergency contraception may work by preventing or delaying ovulation. Some research also suggests it may affect implantation, depending on timing.

It is also important to know that:
✔ It is not intended as a regular form of birth control.
✔ It will not end an existing pregnancy.
✔ It does not protect against s*xually transmitted infections (STIs).
✔ It may be less effective for women with higher BMIs.

If you have questions or think you may be pregnant, we're here to help.

If you're facing an unexpected pregnancy, you deserve accurate information before making a decision.

Here are a few common questions we hear:

Is abortion legal in Maine?
Yes. Under current Maine law, abortion is legal throughout pregnancy when a physician determines it is medically necessary.

Can I get abortion pills over the counter?
No. The abortion pill requires a prescription from a qualified provider. Some certified pharmacies may dispense it with a valid prescription.

Can I order abortion pills online?
The FDA advises caution when purchasing abortion pills online. Some websites operate outside the United States, and medications obtained from them may not meet FDA quality standards.

Before making any pregnancy decision, an ultrasound can provide important information about your pregnancy, including how far along you are and whether the pregnancy is developing normally.

No matter what questions you have, you’re worthy of accurate information and compassionate support before making any pregnancy decision.
