Terri’s Live A Dream: A Return to the Detroit Zoo

Sometimes a dream isn’t about experiencing something new, it’s about returning to something that has always brought you joy.

For Terri Thomas, that special place is the Detroit Zoo. Terri has loved animals for as long as her family can remember. Years ago, she and her family visited the zoo multiple times a month. Rain or shine, being around the animals always made her happy. One look around Terri’s apartment today and you can still see just how much animals mean to her!

After many, many years away, Terri’s Live A Dream became a reality on an absolutely perfect day.

Accompanied by her son Tim, daughter Sandy, Life Enrichment Director Jenn, and CRCA Mya, Terri spent the day enjoying the animals, exploring the zoo, and reconnecting with cherished memories.

This beautiful day reminded us that Live A Dream is about knowing someone’s story and helping them reconnect with what brings their heart joy.

For Terri, the zoo wasn’t just a destination, it was part of her story.

Leadership in Action: Celebrating Our Shelby Team!

Today, the Shelby Crossing Leadership Team took a little time away from our daily responsibilities to focus on something incredibly important—saying THANK YOU to our amazing staff!

Our annual Employee Appreciation Car Wash is more than just clean cars. It’s a simple but meaningful way for leadership to show our appreciation for the dedication, compassion, teamwork, and heart our employees bring to Shelby Crossing every single day.

Our team members work tirelessly to care for our residents, support their families, and support one another. Today, it was our turn to serve them.

From rolling up our sleeves to sharing a few laughs in the parking lot, this annual tradition reminds us that appreciation doesn’t always have to be grand, it simply has to be genuine.

At Shelby Crossing Health Campus, we believe a strong community begins with people who feel valued. We are incredibly grateful for every member of our team and the difference they make in the lives of our residents.

Betty’s dream was simple, meaningful, and delicious, a beautiful lobster dinner shared with friends. While her friends weren’t quite as excited about seafood, they enjoyed perfectly prepared ribeye steaks, making the evening special for everyone.

At Trilogy Health Services, Live A Dream is about creating meaningful experiences that honor each resident’s wishes, passions, and individuality. No matter what accommodations may be needed, we find a way to ensure everyone can be included.

Because the best dreams are often about more than the experience itself, they’re about the people beside you. You meet as neighbors, and somewhere along the way, you become friends who feel like family.

Our Campus In Color project has grown beyond flowers, vegetables, and beautiful outdoor spaces. The Thrive & Flourish Garden has become a living example of how senior living can intentionally create environments where residents can move, connect, contribute, learn, belong, and live with purpose.

Through gardening, cultural education, garden-to-table experiences, sensory engagement, outdoor movement, creative programming, resident leadership, and meaningful social connection, we are bringing well-being into everyday life across the campus.

That is where the bigger vision begins.
Thrive & Flourish is not just a garden. It is a model for how we can redesign the places where people live, work, gather, learn, and play so healthier choices, stronger relationships, purpose, and belonging become part of the environment itself.

The future of senior living will require more than activities.
It will require experiences that give people a reason to participate, contribute, connect, and keep growing.
