We recently welcomed breast cancer survivors for a special luncheon at Piedmont Macon during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It was an opportunity to share stories, build connections and celebrate together.

That support continues beyond the event. Our cancer services include surgery, genetic counseling and testing, nutrition consultations, lymphedema prevention and cancer navigators who work one-on-one with patients.

We’re proud to care for our patients and help them feel informed, supported and connected throughout their care.

A new option for joint replacement care, right here in Middle Georgia. 🧡

A surgical team led by Bruce Byrd, M.D., of Piedmont Orthopedics | OrthoAtlanta Macon recently performed Piedmont Macon North’s first robotic total knee replacement using our new Mako Total Joint robotic system.

The technology helps surgeons personalize procedures with greater precision. We’re proud to bring this advancement to our community, giving patients access to advanced orthopedic care close to home.

During Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, Piedmont Macon recently partnered with Macon Volunteer Clinic to provide free prostate screenings in our community.

During the event, 18 men received prostate cancer screenings through PSA testing, and 20 took advantage of blood pressure checks. These screenings can play an important role in identifying health concerns early and connecting people with the care they need.

Piedmont Macon is grateful for the opportunity to work alongside Macon Volunteer Clinic to help improve access to care in our community. Together, we're building a healthier Middle Georgia, one screening at a time! 🧡

Piedmont Macon recently joined Moving to Success, Motivating Youth and other community partners for the 2nd Annual Go Blue for Men Luncheon, bringing men together for honest conversations about their health.

The panel included Dr. Abraham Butler of Piedmont Primary Care at Charter Boulevard and covered topics including prostate cancer, colon cancer, mental health and overall wellness.

Attendees were encouraged to know their risk factors, pay attention to changes in their health and stay connected to preventive care.

We’re grateful to everyone who helped create space for these conversations and encouraged men across our community to make their health a priority. 🧡

A major milestone for heart care in Middle Georgia. 🧡

Piedmont Macon Medical Center recently performed its first mitral valve clip procedure, expanding access to advanced, minimally invasive heart care close to home.

Led by Dr. Kishore Harjai, an interventional and structural cardiologist at Piedmont Macon, the procedure treats a leaking mitral valve using a catheter rather than traditional open-heart surgery. For some high-risk patients, that can mean a less invasive treatment option and a shorter path to recovery.

Congratulations to Dr. Harjai and the entire cardiovascular team on bringing this new treatment option to patients in Middle Georgia.

This August, Piedmont Macon Medical Center and Piedmont Macon North Hospital celebrated five years as part of the Piedmont family with team events including a scavenger hunt, themed dress-up days, food trucks, and a special T-shirt day.

Since joining Piedmont in 2021, our teams have continued growing their impact across Middle Georgia while caring for the communities they call home.

When hip and leg soreness started slowing Mark McKay down, he thought it might be a nerve issue. His primary care physician, Dr. Korie, suspected there could be more to the story.

An X-ray revealed osteoarthritis in Mark’s right hip, setting him on the path to a hip replacement and physical therapy with Piedmont Orthopedics.

Recovery meant relearning some of the everyday movements most of us never think twice about, from tying his shoes to simply moving with ease. But with a care team Mark describes as “phenomenal,” he kept moving forward.

Today, the longtime 95.5 WSB traffic reporter is back on the air, back to doing what he loves and moving more like himself again.

For Mark, the road back started with a primary care physician who recognized there might be more going on.

Piedmont Heart is No. 1 in the Southeast. 🧡

U.S. News and World Report has named Piedmont Heart Institute the best program in the Southeast for cardiology, heart and vascular surgery in its 2026–2027 Best Hospitals rankings. And for the first time, Piedmont Heart ranks among the top 20 heart programs in the nation.

Piedmont Heart also earned “High Performing” recognition in all eight heart procedures and conditions evaluated.

“Placing among the nation’s top 20 heart programs and earning the top spot in the Southeast is a testament to the exceptional physicians, nurses and clinical teams whose expertise and compassion impact patients every day,” said Patrick M. Battey, M.D., chief executive officer of Piedmont Atlanta and a Piedmont Heart physician.

The recognition extends beyond heart care. Piedmont Atlanta was also rated High Performing in gastroenterology and GI surgery, geriatrics, and neurology and neurosurgery, placing it among the top 10% nationally for care in those specialties.

The annual Best Hospitals list is designed to help patients and providers identify hospitals that excel in the care they may need.

After noticing an unusual lump, Brad's primary care doctor quickly coordinated testing and connected him to the next steps, helping him get answers without delay.

Looking back, Brad says that timely, coordinated care put him on a path he never expected, but one he didn't have to navigate alone.

There was plenty to cheer for at Miracle Kids Night with the Columbus Clingstones, but one of the biggest moments belonged to Greenlee Lamb.

A former patient at the Piedmont Bill and Olivia Amos Children’s Hospital and the 2026 Children's Miracle Network, Greenlee threw out the ceremonial first pitch before the game, surrounded by her family, care team, and a community cheering her on.

Healthy communities start with healthy kids, families, and schools. 🧡

Piedmont Macon was proud to partner with Burdell-Hunt Elementary Magnet School for its 2nd Annual Open House Health Fair, connecting students, families, and educators with valuable health resources before the new school year.

Our team provided blood pressure screenings, first aid and hand hygiene education, diabetes and nutrition guidance, and free sports physicals for middle and high school students. More than 60 community members also received blood pressure checks during the event.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to support our neighbors and help students start the school year healthy, confident, and ready to learn.

We were proud to welcome the inaugural class of the The University of Georgia School of Medicine to Piedmont Macon Medical Center during the first stop of their statewide tour.

Sixty-four future physicians and 20 faculty members spent the day exploring our hospital, meeting members of our care team, and getting a behind-the-scenes look at the people, technology, and spaces that make exceptional patient care possible.

It was an honor to share our passion for medicine and help inspire the next generation of physicians as they begin this exciting journey.

The clinical research happening at Piedmont today is helping shape the care patients receive tomorrow.

In 2025, 1,392 patients enrolled in clinical trials at Piedmont. By year-end, 357 active trials were underway across our system, with more than 200 providers conducting research. Behind those numbers are patients accessing new treatments, physicians advancing medicine and communities benefiting from care informed by research.

Five months after undergoing a quintuple bypass surgery, Greg returned to the place where his second chance began.

Only this time, he wasn’t arriving as a patient.

He ran past the hospital that helped save his life while taking part in the Peachtree Road Race.

Recovery isn’t measured by miles alone. It’s found in every step forward, every milestone reached, and every reminder of how far you’ve come.
