Happy National Dog Day from MCC Internal Medicine!

Today, we’re celebrating our loyal, loving, and furry friends who bring so much joy, comfort, and companionship into our lives. National Dog Day is a perfect reminder of the special bond we share with our dogs and the many health benefits they bring us.

Did you know that having a dog can:

🐾 Boost Your Mood: Spending time with dogs can increase levels of serotonin and dopamine, helping to reduce stress and anxiety.
🐾 Encourage Physical Activity: Regular walks and playtime keep both you and your dog active and healthy.
🐾 Improve Heart Health: Studies show that dog owners have lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
🐾 Provide Companionship: Dogs offer unconditional love and support, making them the perfect companions.

Your health journey is about more than a number on the scale. 💙

If you’ve been working toward a weight-loss goal but haven’t reached the number you had in mind, don’t overlook the progress you have made. Healthier eating, regular exercise, better sleep, stress management and other positive lifestyle changes can improve your health—even when the scale doesn’t move as much as you hoped.

The benefits can include better endurance, improved sleep, stronger muscles and joints, and reduced risk for conditions such as heart disease and diabetes. In many cases, how you feel and how healthy you are matters more than the number on the scale.

Read this helpful article from MDVIP for a great reminder that every positive change counts:
