A Dharma brother sent us a remarkable, very large (2 meters) scroll painting of Taigensui Myo-o. It is a reproduction of a Kamakura era painting currently held in the National Museum of Asian Art.

This will serve as the honzon image during monthly practice of that ritual at Korinji. Since it will be used in this way we don't wish to reveal the whole scroll. But here is a view of one corner, at least, showing the wonderful quality of the artist's work. What an amazing gift.

Now we are preparing for our June Dai-sesshin next week.

We don't often post the actual daily schedule of sesshin, since it's not important for trainees to know beforehand. In the pre-internet years, we don't recall that it was ever something we knew, or asked about, before arriving at the sesshin place!

However, these days we receive many requests for our daily sesshin schedule. Probably these come mostly from curious people, or Zen practitioners from other places, rather than students actually considering attendance with us. Or, in some cases it may be indeed be potential attendees asking, who wonder how rough it is!

So: here's what sesshin looks like with us. Not too rough, as you can see.

We begin on Sunday evenings and end on the following Saturday late afternoon or early evening (except for the Rohatsu Dai-sesshin, which pushes through past that to the following morning).
