🩵 WELCOME DEAN 🩵
When you’ve given birth many times, you’ve had the opportunity to figure out your pattern. Although this mom didn’t seem to have a pattern for when she gave birth relative to her due date, she did tend to labor and birth quickly. In her 39th week, we had been sticking close and on high alert for a couple of weeks; ready to go at the smallest sign. 🚗💨
Just before 6pm she sent a text to let us know that she was seeing signs of impending labor and she had called her husband home from work. Our team assembled at the birth center so we would be closer to her home when she was ready. It was right at 8pm when she asked us to head over. 🕗
When we arrived we found her laboring calmly in her bathtub and talking easily between contractions. We set up while dad worked on getting the pool ready. After we did our initial assessment we left the room to give them some space. Contractions were about 5 minutes apart. 🛁
Less than an hour later, dad emerged from the bedroom and let us know contractions were now 2 minutes apart. She was quietly laboring in the pool while we did a final check to make sure everything was ready for baby’s soon arrival. 🩺
As mom pushed, her water broke, dad was by her head offering support, and her baby slowly started to emerge. We helped her change positions and then climb out of the pool in an attempt to encourage this cheeky boy out of his first home. Once he decided to join us we noticed that he had his umbilical cord wrapped around his ankle a couple of times. After a bit of motivation, he made his presence known. 👣
His parent’s knowledge and peace surrounding birth provided the best environment for this baby’s entrance. Even when a little more effort was needed, they remained strong and steady. They’re an incredible team and a wonderful family. We are all eager to watch this adorable boy grow into his cheeks! 😍
