The year is 1999. High school student Mike Baker is thinking what he wants to do with his life. As he twirls his draping middle part, bowl-cut hair and fusses with his puka shell necklace, it dawns on him that he wants to help people see clearly and avoid blinding diseases. He finds time between Limp Bizkit and Creed concerts to study, work hard, train in primary care optometry. In 2009, Mikey Baker becomes Dr. Michael Baker, shedding the bowl cut long ago and ready to make a difference. Between the neuro-anatomy, physiological optics, and pharmacology classes, little did he know he would have daily conversations regarding mascara and eyeliner and provide education to individuals about the importance of makeup application and removal to maintain a proper tear film chemistry. Funny how that wasn't in the Ohio State prospectus!

Contact Lenses Need a Backup Plan There is an old adage in the eye care industry--Glasses are a necessity, contact lenses are a luxury. Ninety-nine percent of the time this is absolutely true. In the absence of unusual eye disorders or very high prescriptions that don’t allow a person to wear glas...
