Oooone more new therapist to share! Rhiza has been so grateful to have added 3 new wonderful therapists to our team. So meet Elise!

Elise specializes in working with trauma, but truly works with a wide variety of issues, diagnoses, and challenges. She is trained in EMDR. She also likes using internal family systems & parts work, somatic & mindfulness approaches, and narrative modalities. Elise works entirely virtually.

Elise accepts Quartz, GHC, Optum/UHC, The Alliance, and BCBS. Coming soon will be Dean and Aetna!

Cassie enjoys working with anxiety, trauma, eating disorders, first responders, and body image/self-esteem concerns. She uses a person-centered approach and draws from modalities such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Narrative Therapy. She is also trained in EMDR!

UWW Counselor Education Alumni Spotlight: Karyn Paisley

Where are you now: I graduated from UWW in 2021. I currently work at Rhiza Counseling in Madison, WI. and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I work with individuals and specialize in complex trauma and PTSD, LGBTQ+, eating disorders, and mood disorders.

What advice do you want to share? Trust the process and enjoy the connections you make! I found the program challenged me in many ways that shaped who I am as a person and professional. The relationships I made with professors, my work as a graduate assistant, and friendships with classmates created lifelong connections and support for me through challenging times.

How do you practice self-care? I believe in balance towards managing my well-being through movement, play, and connection. I enjoy backpacking and biking with my spouse, Mitch, and our puppy named Eddie! I also enjoy video games and attend therapy to manage my wellbeing. Having a balanced system has helped me care for myself while I hold space for others!

When we are walking through difficult times, one of the best things we can do is gather with those who respect and empathize – persons who support and challenge. Groups provide a space to connect as you learn more about yourself and others … and as we find healing in community with others.

Rhiza Counseling is offering a group for women! It is intentionally wrapped around the holidays to provide support.

It will focus on creating connection and facilitating self-understanding. Led by the wonderful Dr. Brenda Rust O’Beirne, an incredible therapist and retired professor/department chair of UWW’s counselor education program!

Rhiza Counseling is looking to add a couple folks to our group!

We are a co-op therapy clinic in Madison WI. We are looking for an outpatient therapist that is seeking flexibility in their job. Our therapists are all contracted, manage their schedules individually, and are support by administrators. Rhiza offers all the benefits you'd enjoy from working at a private practice, without the annoying parts like billing and insurance because our admin team covers that for you! There are no requirements for how many sessions are fulfilled weekly. We all split costs in the way of monthly dues (which are also transparent) - beyond monthly dues, you take home however much you make!

It is a unique model but it works very well for folks. Our intention is to give therapists an environment that feels supportive and flexible so that they can just focus on the work that we all care so much about. Our world needs less burned out therapists.

She’s the newest contractor at Rhiza and we are so happy to have her here! Katherine has been working in the outpatient setting for a number of years and she fits right in here.

Katherine uses IFS, CBT, DBT, EMDR, and Narrative therapy. She enjoys working with female and non-binary identifying folks 18+. She works well with trauma, anxiety, depression, attachment, and relational concerns.

Meet Scott! 👋

We are so pleased to have Scott join our team in his encore career! Scott spent 31 years in law enforcement and is looking forward to giving back to first responders. He takes pride in being someone who has really been there. While he loves working with other first responders, Scott wants to provide a safe and compassionate space to anyone struggling with all of life’s variety of challenges.

Scott takes limited insurances but has a reduced out of pocket rate of $100. He is accepting new clients!
