Shoutout to Serendipity Labs for letting CT use their amazing co-working space for a staff training! Last week, our clinical team received training on the Low Arousal Approach (a de-escalation-focused, person-centered, and evidence-based approach to managing distressed behaviors) from our very own Monty and Michaela - the first LAA trained facilitators in the US!

🥶📖 Happy snowy Wednesday 📚🥶
This week's book is The Insider Guide to PDA. It offers an in-depth exploration of PDA (Persistent Drive for Autonomy) which is a profile os some neurodivergent experiences. The book covers topics like what PDA can be like at each different life stage, strategies for self-regulation and support of loved ones and each chapter closes with commentary from the authors - Sally Cat and Brook Madera are both PDAers who are also parents of PDA kiddos. Check this book out for helpful insight and knowledge!
P.S. This book and a feature on PDA were in March's edition of our monthly newsletter - subscribe for more info about topics related to neurodivergence, book recs and info about upcoming events! http://www.commonthreadsmadison.org/join 😸

Hi all, with the high interest and need for OT services paired with a small hiring pool the clinic has made the hard decision to stop adding new names to our OT waitlist.

We will suggest other agencies for those interested in OT who reach out to us and will announce when we are able reopen the waitlist. Stay safe and warm today! 💙

🎺 Come one, come all to learn about our incoming Clinical Psychologist - Dr. Holly Morales! 🎺
Dr. Morales practices from a neurodiversity-affirming and social justice–informed perspective. She believes that people are the experts on their own experiences and that accurate diagnosis can be an important step toward self-understanding, support, and access to care. Her approach emphasizes listening closely to clients, reducing barriers to diagnosis, and moving away from deficit-based models toward strengths-based understanding.
We're looking forward to learning from her and increasing the ways in which we can support clients and students. Yay! 😸🌼🧠
