UW–Madison researchers, led by Amy Kind, MD, PhD, professor, Geriatrics and Gerontology, developed a tool to help communities better understand how place shapes health and to guide decisions about where resources are needed most. Now, the city of Milwaukee is leveraging that research to replace highest-risk lead pipes.

Allan Brasier, MD, professor, Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, is the Co-PI of a project that received annual State Economic Engagement & Development (SEED) funding. The project, "Reducing treatment toxicity for fibrotic lung disease," is in collaboration with PI Seungpyo Hong, PhD, professor, University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Pharmacy, and commercialization partner, Quadragenics. Congrats!

Beyond their demanding curriculum, medical students at University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health can explore electives that reflect their interests and passions—like the new course giving a better understanding of fi****ms and preparation to talk with patients about injury prevention.

The course was developed through a collaboration between Siobhan Wilson, MD, PhD, clinical associate professor, Division of General Internal Medicine; and James Bigham, MD, MPH, clinical professor, UW - Department of Family Medicine and Community Health; and many academic and community partners.
