📣 Kids Camp WIN! 📣

We take progress very serious.

Several months ago, a child entered our Kids Camp program after experiencing 10+ psychiatric hospitalizations. Residential treatment had even been discussed because of the severity of the behaviors.

Here’s a few of the struggles:
• Severe emotional and behavioral dysregulation
• Intense anger and frequent emotional outbursts
• Physical aggression
• Self-harm behaviors (including self & others)
• Hurting family pets
• Bullying and peer conflict
• Defiance and refusal to follow directions home & school
• Yelling, screaming, and threatening behaviors
• Running away and repeated mental health crises

Today, we’re celebrating progress.

✨ In the past six months:
✅ No psychiatric hospitalizations 👏👏👏
✅ No self-harm behaviors
✅ No harm to animals
✅ Significant reduction in the frequency of behavioral crises at home
✅ Improved use of coping skills when emotionally overwhelmed
✅ No School office referrals last semester
✅ Strong relationships with kid camp staff & relationships at home improving
✅ Improved ability to calm with support instead of immediately escalating
✅ Continued academic success with good grades
✅ Caregivers report progress at home

This child’s journey isn’t over, but every crisis prevented, every healthy choice made, every coping skill used, every home becoming more calm, and every day spent out of the hospital is a victory worth celebrating.

Stories like this remind us why Caris Kids Camp WORKS.

To every family walking this journey: don’t lose hope. Progress often comes one small victory at a time—and those victories can change a child’s future.

❤️ We are incredibly proud of this young person and thankful for the caregivers, Kids Camp staff, therapists, and treatment team who continue to walk alongside kiddos every step of the way.🙌

If you have a kiddo who is struggling and you’re at your wits end call 📞 Caris, it is our pleasure to serve kids. 270-871-6667!!!

**Today's Kids Camp Highlight**

Today at Kids Camp, our focus was on the coping skill of spending time in nature. We talked about how being outside can help us stay in the Green Zone by reducing stress, calming our minds and bodies, and helping us feel more focused and peaceful.

The Green Zone is the zone where we feel calm, happy, focused, safe, and in control of our emotions. It's the best state of mind for learning, making good choices, and building healthy relationships.

The children discussed how taking a walk, listening to birds, feeling the sunshine, or simply sitting outside can help bring their minds and bodies back to the Green Zone when they're feeling overwhelmed.

It was a great day of learning, practicing healthy coping skills, and discovering how nature can help us care for both our minds and our bodies. 🌿💚

Today's Kids Camp Highlight!!

Today our children focused on building gratitude and practicing positive thinking. Together, we created gratitude lists to help shift our thoughts and emotions, encouraging hearts and minds to move from emotional thinking toward wise thinking.

We also strengthened social connections within our community and explored how music can be a healthy coping skill. By listening to and singing songs about happiness, hope, and joy, campers learned that what we choose to focus on can positively influence how we think, feel, and respond to life's challenges. Another great day of learning, growing, and having fun together!

Today's focus at Kids Camp was all about learning through fun and hands-on activities! 🍎🎨🎶

Today the children practiced patience, problem-solving, creativity, and turning simple materials into something meaningful through crafting. We also enjoyed a game of musical chairs, where they worked on patience, listening skills, paying attention, and following directions.

Our Independent Living Skill for the day was making Apple Donuts! The children learned how to read ingredients, follow a recipe, and discover that with a little effort and creativity, you can start with simple things and create something great.

Every activity is an opportunity to build confidence, life skills, and lasting memories

🌱❤️ Today's Kids Camp Highlight ❤️🌱

Today, our kiddos learned about the difference between being selfish and being selfless. We talked about how even small acts of kindness can make a big impact on the people around us.

To put that lesson into action, each child made a special card for someone they love, decorated a picture frame, and took a Polaroid picture to give as a keepsake. It was such a joy watching them create gifts straight from the heart!

We wrapped up the day by visiting our camp garden, where the children watered their plants, pulled weeds, and admired how much their seeds have grown. Just like our garden, we believe kindness, responsibility, and confidence grow when they are cared for every day.

We are so proud of our campers and can't wait to see what they learn next! 💚🌼
