Monroe County Prevention & Wellness Coalition

Monroe County Prevention & Wellness Coalition A primary prevention coalition mobilizing our community to reduce substance misuse in Monroe County. Providing education & resources for future generations.

Funded by TDMHSAS. The Monroe County Prevention & Wellness Coalition (PWC) is an alliance of organizations and people from all sectors of our community. For over a decade, the PWC has been effective in policy change, prevention programming, increased opportunities for positive health impact, and the overall reduction of risky behaviors. Although the priority of the PWC remains primary prevention,

our work has had a positive impact throughout the community in many other ways. The PWC has several substances that we address: alcohol (underage use), nicotine, prescription drugs, opioids (illicit) and stimulants, and marijuana/THC/derivatives. Under those areas of focus are several initiatives and programs such as community events like 'Smash the Stigma' Community Water Balloon Fight and the DEA Drug Take Back Day, youth clubs in the schools, overdose prevention training where you learn how to use and receive naloxone, training for businesses, community education, free medication drop boxes, parental education (particularly with our Revealed: A Hidden World trailer), training for teachers/school admin/law enforcement, alcohol awareness training for servers/restaurants that sell alcohol, and youth substance misuse classes within our schools, Boys & Girls Club, and juvenile program. We also work closely with local law enforcement on compliance checks and saturation patrols.

Men's Mental Health Awareness Month reminds us that mental health is just as important as physical health.

Too often, men feel pressure to stay silent about stress, anxiety, depression, or emotional struggles. This month, encourage the men in your life to talk, reach out, and prioritize their well-being. A simple conversation can make a difference.

If you or someone you know needs support, call or text 988 to reach the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline. Trained counselors are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing free and confidential support.

As Tennessee's kratom ban takes effect, we want our community to know that while we fully support efforts to protect public health and safety, we also recognize that some individuals may struggle with this transition.

Kratom can be addictive, and those who have been using it regularly may experience withdrawal symptoms when they stop. If you or someone you know is having a difficult time, please remember that help is available.

📞 Call or text 988 anytime for immediate support.
📞 Contact the Tennessee REDLINE at 800-889-9789 for 24/7 referrals and assistance.

Way to go MPD!! We are so thankful for the collaboration we have with our local law enforcement. Our main goal is to keep our youth safe, and discourage underage alcohol consumption and driving under the influence. Working together helps keep our community and roads safe for us all!

🚓Saturation Patrol 🚓

Today, in collaboration with the Monroe County Prevention and Wellness Coalition, Madisonville Police officers conducted a saturation patrol throughout the city.

During the operation, officers stopped dozens of vehicles and seized narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

We would also like to thank Monroe County E-911 for providing additional personnel to assist with the extra radio traffic during this operation.

Before you hit the water this summer, make safety your top priority 🚤☀️
Boating Under the Influence (BUI) is dangerous, illegal, and puts everyone on the water at risk. Alcohol can impair judgment, balance, coordination, and reaction time—making accidents more likely. Plan ahead, wear a life jacket, stay alert, and always designate a sober boat operator.
Safe boating saves lives. 🌊
