I was fortunate to be a vendor at the Lone Star Sports Zone vendor day this weekend. A question was asked of me by one of the attendees, and I wanted to answer it here in case you have had a similar question:

"Do you do sports chiropractic?"

YES! It is a straightforward question, but the answer becomes tricky in my head. My focus is on human performance, whether that be during pregnancy, infancy and childhood, in the athletic realm, or parents wanting to keep energy levels up to run their businesses and families.

For some, sports chiropractic is treating injuries to get back to playing, using different modalities and treatments. That is great, and I have used that care for me personally. In my office, I focus less on hunting for the sore muscles or treating the symptom/secondary condition. I want to address the underlying structure and nerve function so the athlete has better mobility, balance, coordination, and efficiency BEFORE they have a problem, and of course AFTER- if an injury occurs. I like to catch and address dysfunction before it becomes an injury.

This is not the standard American way, which is to wait until the check engine light comes on and you're stranded on the side of the road.

Most will utilize sports chiropractic when something hurts. I want to work with you before it hurts.

Yes, we do chiropractic for athletes. No, our office does not look like a gym, replace your trainer, or replace your physical therapist. But I think we should be your first stop before, during, and after your season!

If you miss the days of the old time family doctor who took care of your parents, then you, then your newborn… who knows you, wants to see you healthy (not just… NOT sick), lives in your community, and practices in a home-style office, we may be the place for you! As a bonus, when you call is during office hours, we (usually) answer! I do not, however, wear a white coat and that shiny circle mirror headband.
