Room to Breathe: Terrain
Last week, Room to Breathe began by following what happens as air enters the nose and meets the body’s respiratory and immune tissues.
This week, I am staying at that boundary and looking more closely at terrain, including the conditions that influence how our bodies and microbial communities respond to everything we encounter.
The article grew from my frustration with the familiar approach of killing unwanted organisms and then attempting to repopulate the ecosystem with selected probiotics, fermented foods or supplements. These may have an appropriate place, but they are often recommended without asking why that individual’s ecosystem shifted or whether the host has the capacity to integrate another change.
I explore immune discernment, microbial self-regulation, vitamin D, mitochondrial energy and the TCM Metal-season relationship between the Lungs, our boundaries and the outside world we receive with every breath.
I hope you enjoy it.
