Most people think they urinate “too often,” but what’s actually normal?

For most adults, it takes about 20 to 30 seconds to empty your bladder and 6 to 8 trips to the bathroom during the day is completely normal. Waking up once, or sometimes more, at night can also be normal depending on your age and fluid intake.

One of the biggest reasons people p*e more often? They’re drinking massive amounts of water because they think they should. If you double your fluid intake, your bladder has to keep up.

If you’re going much more often, leaking, feeling urgency, or getting up multiple times every night, it may be worth getting evaluated.

Your ovaries make estrogen. 👸🏼🙋🏻‍♀️

Your liver and gut help determine how much stays in circulation.

When women are struggling with PMS, bloating, breast tenderness, mood changes, or other hormone-related symptoms, most people immediately focus on hormone levels.

What often gets overlooked is hormone metabolism.

Your body has to process and eliminate estrogen efficiently, and your digestive tract plays an important role in that process.

This is one reason I ask about bowel habits, fiber intake, hydration, and gut health when we’re discussing hormones.

Painful s*x doesn't automatically mean your estrogen "isn't working."

One of the first questions I ask is: Are you using systemic estrogen, vaginal estrogen, or both?

Systemic hormone therapy can do a wonderful job treating symptoms like hot flashes, sleep disruption, and brain fog. But sometimes it doesn't deliver enough estrogen directly to the vaginal tissues. That's why many women on systemic hormone therapy still benefit from adding low-dose vaginal estrogen.

If you're already using vaginal estrogen consistently and s*x is still painful, don't assume you just have to live with it.
Pain with intimacy isn't always caused by estrogen deficiency.

Sometimes the problem is overactive pelvic floor muscles.
Sometimes it's nerve-related pain.
Sometimes the vaginal tissue needs additional support to restore collagen and elastin.
And sometimes it's a combination of several factors.

The good news is that painful s*x is rarely a one-size-fits-all problem, and it shouldn't be treated with a one-size-fits-all solution.

If s*x is still painful, keep asking questions. There are often more answers, and more treatment options, than you've been told.

One of the biggest mistakes I see is assuming every hormone symptom is caused by high estrogen.

Heavy periods, PMS, bloating, breast tenderness, irritability, and mood changes can have multiple causes.

⚕️Estrogen may be part of the picture
⚕️So can progesterone
⚕️So can thyroid function
⚕️It might be insulin resistance
⚕️It may be related to stress, sleep quality, and gut health

Symptoms are important; they point us in the right direction.

But symptoms alone rarely tell the whole story.

The real question is “Why am I having these symptoms?”
