Sponsored rider interview
Riderās Name: Kaitlyn Schroeder
Horseās Name: Sunshine
Discipline: WSCA Game Events & Dressage
1. Before beginning the program, what were you hoping LH Equine Motion could help with?
Sunshine was hollowing out through her back, resisting the bit, and having difficulty maintaining a soft, connected frame.
2. What has surprised you the most about being part of the LH Equine Motion program?
Honestly, the support and community that Taya has built has surprised me the most. As Iāve gotten older and came back into the horse world with a new horse, my confidence was pretty low. I was quiet and worried about what people thought or said.
Now, at the end of this summer, Iāve built genuine relationships with people because of LH Equine Motion. Iāve gained confidence, learned from others, and have people around me who encourage me and genuinely want to see me and my horses do well. Itās been so much more than I expected when I first started.
3. What is the BIGGEST change youāve seen in your horse since using LH Equine Motion?
Sunshineās attitude and willingness to work have improved so much since starting Acuscope. She had been on Mare Magic since she was 4, and now she hasnāt needed it for several months. Seeing the change in her attitude, willingness to work, and overall mindset has been one of the biggest things Iāve noticed.
4. Is there something your horse can do now that was more difficult before beginning the program?
Sunshine is beginning to relax while working instead of getting in her head. Sheās having more good moments in collection and is learning to use her body correctly, which is helping her build the right muscle. Itās been really rewarding to see her become more relaxed, confident, and willing in her work.
5. How has LH Equine Motion supported your horse as an equine athleteānot just physically, but in their overall performance and ability to do their job?
LH Equine Motion has supported Sunshine not just physically, but in her overall performance. Sheās learning to use her body correctly, building muscle, and becoming stronger in her work. Most importantly, it has given both of us more confidence and consistency in what weāre doing together.
6. Has the program changed the way you think about maintaining your horseās body and athletic performance? If so, how?
Absolutely. LH Equine Motion has taught me to be more proactive with Sunshineās body instead of waiting for a problem to show up. I pay more attention to how she moves and feels so we can keep her comfortable, strong, and performing her best.
7. What would you tell another rider who is considering trying LH Equine Motion for their horse?
Honestly, I would tell any rider to give LH Equine Motion a try. Iāve seen such a difference in Sunshineās attitude, comfort, and performance, and I truly believe in what Taya is doing.
8. Have you noticed improvements in warm-up, recovery, range of motion, willingness to work, stamina, or overall performance?
Absolutelyāeverything. We can come off a full week at the fair, and Sunshine will actually get mad about having a day off! She steps off the trailer just as good as she did when we arrived at the fair. That kind of consistency and recovery has been huge for us.
9. How has LH Equine Motion fit into your competition and training routine?
Easy. Our routine is pretty simple: tack up, longe, stretch, then get on and warm up, focusing on getting her to use her hind end correctly.
After each run, I cool her down and do some stretching. When weāre done competing for the day, she gets her hay cubes, and I poultice her and put standing wraps on. The standing wraps have really helped with swelling and keeping her legs looking and feeling good.
10. If you could describe your horseās journey with LH Equine Motion in three words, what would they be?
Confidence. Consistency. Strength.
