Ruby Lynn Faulkner

Ruby Lynn (Byrd) Faulkner, age 74, of Malvern, passed away October 20, 2026, at Arbor Oaks Nursing Facility. Ruby was born August 5, 1952 in Malvern, Arkansas to Ollie and Ruby Byrd.

Lynn had a calling early on to help people, especially the elderly, which led to her becoming a caregiver and assisting elderly and those in need. She was a great cook, she also enjoyed camping, sitting outside, visiting with her friends & family, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Lynn is preceded in death by her daughter, Kacie Finley, her parents, Ollie and Ruby Byrd, and her four brothers, James Byrd, Everett Byrd, Dennis Byrd and Ronnie Byrd. She is survived by one daughter, Allison (Chase) Weatherly and one son, Juston Finley. She has two grandchildren, Hannah and Hunter Weatherly. She was blessed with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A graveside memorial service will be held at the Big Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, in Malvern, beginning at 10:00am on Saturday, October 24, 2026.

Sharon Suzanne Hughes

Sharon Suzanne (Bowman) HughesApril 8, 1969 – October 18, 2026Sharon Suzanne (Bowman) Hughes, 57, of Malvern, Arkansas, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 18, 2026.Born on April 8, 1969, Sharon devoted her life to what mattered most to her: her family. As a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she found her greatest joy in caring for those she loved. Sharon took immense pride in her children and was their fiercest supporter, always ready to celebrate their accomplishments, offer encouragement, and stand by their side.Nothing brought Sharon more happiness than her grandchildren, Cadan and Briana, who were truly the light of her life. She absolutely adored them, and the love she had for them knew no bounds. Whether celebrating their milestones or simply spending time together, being their grandmother was one of her greatest blessings.Sharon also had a special place in her heart for animals, particularly those in need of rescue. She was a passionate supporter of animal rescue efforts and especially enjoyed following Big Guy Littles World Sanctuary. Her compassion and caring nature extended beyond her family to the animals she loved and those she wished she could help. She was a member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church.Sharon is survived by her husband, Allen Hughes of Malvern; her children, Cody Hughes of Bauxite, Johnny Hughes of Malvern, and Katherine Hughes of Bauxite; a brother, Dennis Bowman; her daughter-in-law, Samantha Hughes of Malvern; and her beloved grandchildren, Cadan and Briana Hughes. She also leaves behind many cousins, extended family members, and loved ones who will cherish her memory.She was preceded in death by her father, Dale Bowman; her mother, Ruby (Kemp) Bowman; and her sister, Janivee Bowman.Although her family will miss her beyond measure, they find comfort in knowing that she is finally free from the struggles and pain she endured for so many years. They take peace in the belief that she has been reunited in Heaven with her beloved parents and sister. Her legacy will live on through the family she loved so fiercely and the countless memories they will forever hold dear.Serving as pallbearers will be Cody Hughes, Cadan Hughes, Johnny Hughes, Chevy Bowman, Chris Revas, and Josh Milner.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Big Guy Littles World Sanctuary, an animal rescue organization that held a special place in Sharon's heart. Terry Laron Fuller

Terry Laron Fuller, 64, of Malvern, Arkansas, passed away on October 19, 2026, in Malvern. He was born on December 10, 1961, in Malvern, and remained connected to the community that shaped his life.

Terry served his country in the United States Marine Corps and later dedicated his working years to law enforcement, from which he retired. He will be remembered as a kind, big-hearted, and loving man whose presence brought warmth to those around him.

He found joy in many interests, including Bigfoot, golf, grilling, riding motorcycles, woodworking, and devotionals with the men’s group. Above all else, Terry treasured spending time with his family and friends, and that devotion to the people he loved was at the center of his life.

He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Fuller, with whom he shared 15 years of marriage; his children, Nicholas Fuller and Bryn, Felicia Sharp and Stephen, Jeremy Baxter and Ellen, Miranda Matson and Kenzie, and Madeline Bentz; his mother, Patsy Fuller; his brother, David Fuller and Paula; and his grandchildren, Donnely, Eli, Norah, Arlo, Trista, and Clay. He also leaves behind many cherished memories with those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Fuller; his daughter, Alicia; and his brother, Kevin Fuller.

Visitation will be held on October 22, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Malvern First Assembly, 1421 South Main Street, Malvern, Arkansas 72104. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the same location.

Terry Laron Fuller will be remembered for his loving heart, his faithful service, and the deep care he gave to his family and friends. Jodie Owens

Jodie “Sonny” Owens, 88, of Malvern, passed away Monday, October 12, 2026.

Sonny is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Luella Owens; three brothers, Ladd Owens, Frantze “Butch” Owens, and Wheeler Owens; three sisters, Suda Mirl Coffey, Marjorie Sharp, and Jean Tasker; his wife, Dorothea Maxine Owens; one son, Monte Sowell; one daughter, Rebecca Tully; daughter-in-law, Petra Sowell and one grandson, Dexter Honold. He is survived by three daughters, Robbin McDermott (Tracy) of Enola, Rachel Ezzell of Denver, and Jackie Owens of Malvern; one son-in-law, Michael Tully of Malvern, twelve grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Born June 6, 1938 in Benton, AR, Sonny worked hard his entire life. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps five months before his eighteenth birthday, serving his country for 3 years before being honorably discharged on February 14, 1959. He married Maxine in 1972 and together they had a daughter, completing their large family. Sonny began working at the Arkansas Highway & Transportation Department in Benton as a member of the road maintenance crew, swiftly moving up to a drilling crew out of Little Rock, and then into the research laboratory in Little Rock. What began as a stable job to provide for his family turned into a gratifying career and he spent 23 years with AHTD before retiring in May of 2000.

Sonny supported his children and loved his family, but he had an extra special place in his heart for his grandchildren. He loved to give them a hard time and try to convince them to sit down and watch NASCAR with him. Every time a grandchild would walk into the house, he would light up, no matter when it was, and he was always proud to be their “Pops.”

Sonny’s warmth and willingness to help everyone will be missed deeply by all who knew him.

Cremation services will be provided by Atkinson Funeral Home of Malvern. A private family celebration of life will occur at a later date.

Dorothy M. Phipps

Dorothy Marie King Phipps passed away on October 9, 2026. She was born on February 18, 1938 to Charley Winston and Bertha Mae Greeno.

Dorothy is preceded in death by parents, spouse William D. King, brother Charles, sister Bernice and son Danny King.

Survivors include her son Charles Wayne King, grandson Karry King, granddaughter Amber Cox, sisters Adean, Doris and Betty, multiple grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 14 from 10 AM to 11 AM at the Atkinson Funeral Home & Chapel, Services will follow beginning at 11 AM at the Atkinson Funeral Home & Chapel.

Tootie Brown

LaVallen Brown, lovingly known as “Tootie,” passed away at home on October 7, 2026, at the age of 78. She was born on June 10, 1948, in Mena, Arkansas. Her life was marked by deep love, enduring faith, and a heart that made room for everyone.

Tootie was a high school graduate, a caretaker, and a homemaker whose life’s work was rooted in caring for others. She was known as someone who would do anything for anyone, a woman with a big heart full of kindness. She loved the Lord and cherished her Cornerstone church family, drawing strength and joy from her faith throughout her life.

She found happiness in simple and beautiful things, especially watching hummingbirds. Seeing their wings flutter so quickly brought her joy and reflected the gentle wonder she carried within her. Among her greatest blessings was the time she was given after her stroke, which allowed her to see her baby become a mother through the adoption of a precious son. Her love for her grandchildren, Jacie & Zayne was unmistakable. No one could mention her granddaughter or grandson without her beaming with pride, her eyes lighting up with joy.

Tootie also carried a special love story in her heart. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry W. Brown, with whom she shared marriage first in June 1967 and again in May 1996. She was also preceded in death by her parents Lloyd Allen and Lavon Taylor; her infant sister, Lorallen Taylor; her nephew, Shane Long; and her great-niece, Andi Brewer.

She leaves behind a family who will continue to treasure her love and memory. She is survived by her son, Jerry Brown and wife, Patti Brown, of Doddridge, Arkansas; her daughters, Brenna Brown of Mena and Kendra Embry and husband, John of Mena; her granddaughter, Jacie Brown of Fayetteville; and her grandson, Zayne Embry of Mena, grandson Colton Boykin and wife, Emilee of Cherry Hill; great grandchildren Aubree Boykin and Abel Boykin. She is also survived by her brothers, Lloyd Taylor and wife, Ann of Hatfield, Neil Taylor and wife, Sheila of Potter; her sisters, Ginny Long and husband, JR. of Mena, and D’Anna Beggs and husband, Roger of Hatfield. Each of them carries forward the warmth, strength, and love Tootie gave so freely.

A memorial service for Tootie Brown will be held on October 17, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Pentecostal Church, 1129 U. S. Highway 71, Mena, Arkansas 71953.

Tootie’s life was a testimony of faith, compassion, and devotion to family. She will be remembered for her loving spirit, her generous heart, and the joy she found in the people she loved most. Her memory will remain a blessing to all who knew her.

Jimmy D Deere

Jimmy Don Deere of Bismarck, Arkansas passed away October 8th 2026 surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on December 20, 1941, in Willow, Arkansas, to Doyne and Lota Mae Deere. He was born and raised in Willow, Arkansas and graduated from Cartridge High School. Following high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1959-1962, spending over a year of his service in South Korea assigned to the legendary 1st Calvary Division as an auto mechanic during the Cold War earning his sharpshooter and marksman badges. After returning home, he began his career with AP&L/Entergy, as a transmission lineman. He dedicated 35 years to the company before retiring. He took great pride in his work and in the work family he became a part of. He was preceded in death by his parents, Doyne Deere and A.G. and Lota Mae Morris, and his brother, Tom Deere. He leaves behind his daughter, Dawn (Todd Davis; three grandchildren, Brady (Madison) Gray, Gracie Davis, and Tristen (Tristan) Davis; brother, Alan Jordan and two great-grandsons. His family will remember him for the example he set that life doesn't have to be difficult-just work hard, take care of your family, and help people when you can. Though he may have been a man of few words, he leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a legacy that will never be forgotten.
