Deep Transformation has been a theme in my personal therapy sessions for a while. After period of loss, grief, and mourning, coinciding with turning 40 and experiencing major changes in my biological rhythm, I could tell a deep recognition was beginning.

At other points in my life, my fiery nature would have pushed for this to happen quickly. But this time I had the sense that this would take a slow and steady attention and care. This is a returning to myself. A stripping away of layers of conditioning and “should haves” that I consciously and unconsciously piled on over the decades.

I can read all the books, listen to all the podcasts, go to all the workshops and trainings. I can cultivate the knowledge but this is different. There is a wisdom in the learned experience. And wisdom we do not procure overnight. It accumulates over time with self-Introspection and being present to oneself.

I still don’t have a clear picture of what’s unfolding. I have little glimpses and big surprises along the way. I am here for the journey. I share this with you because I have so many clients that think I have it all figured out or ask me how I remain so steady and present. The thing is, if I had it all figured out, life would be dull. I’m steady and present because I have cultivated a mindfulness practice over YEARS of my life.

And it takes community and support. Tending and love.
