For older adults and individuals living with chronic health conditions, dementia, or a history of falls, these tools can provide greater independence while offering families added peace of mind.

Eligible veterans enrolled in U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs healthcare may qualify for the VA's Personal Emergency Response System (PERS), an emergency pendant or wrist-worn device that connects them to help 24 hours a day.

While technology is an important safety tool, it works best alongside compassionate human support. Professional caregivers can help identify fall hazards, encourage safe mobility, assist with daily activities, and provide companionship all to create another layer of protection for seniors and veterans.

If you or a loved one is a veteran, ask your VA care team whether you qualify for the VA Personal Emergency Response System. And if you're looking for additional support at home, we're here to help.

Give us a call at 860-533-9343 or visit us at www.ABCCentralCT.com to learn how our in-home care services can help veterans and older adults stay safe, independent, and connected.

Did you know the Alzheimer's Association Connecticut Chapter offers a Respite Care Assistance Grant in many communities? Eligible families may receive financial assistance to help cover the cost of in-home respite care or adult day services, making it easier to take the break every caregiver deserves.

If you're caring for someone living with dementia, don't wait until you're overwhelmed. Support is available, and taking time for yourself is an important part of providing the best care possible.

Give us a call at 860-533-9343 or visit us at www.ABCCentralCT.com to learn how respite care can support your family, and reach out to your local Alzheimer's Association chapter to see if respite grant funding is available in your area.

Because sometimes the simplest way to care for the person you love is to let someone care for you too.

Today, on Purple Heart Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who were wounded or made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. The Purple Heart is more than a medal, it's a symbol of extraordinary courage, resilience, and selfless service.

Many Purple Heart recipients continue to face lasting physical and emotional challenges long after their military service ends. As a community, we can show our gratitude by ensuring our veterans have the support, dignity, and resources they deserve.

Whether it's helping with daily tasks, providing companionship, or connecting veterans with benefits they've earned through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Community Care Network, small acts of support can make a meaningful difference in their quality of life.

Today, take a moment to thank a Purple Heart recipient for their service and learn about the sacrifices made by our nation's veterans.

To every Purple Heart recipient, we thank you for your courage, your sacrifice, and your unwavering dedication to our country. We are forever grateful. For more information on accessing VA benefits, give us a call at 860-533-9343 or visit us at https://alwaysbestcare.com/manchester/veterans-assistance-program/ today!

Summer is a time for vacations, family reunions, and making memories—but for many adult children caring for an aging parent, it can also bring feelings of guilt and concern.

If you've found yourself wondering:
"Who will check on Mom while we're away?"
"Is Dad eating, taking his medications, or spending too much time alone?"

You're not alone.

Social isolation is one of the quietest threats facing older adults. When seniors spend long periods alone, it can impact both their emotional and physical well-being. Research has linked prolonged isolation to an increased risk of depression, cognitive decline, hospitalization, and poorer overall health outcomes.

That's where home care can make all the difference.

Whether you're leaving for a weekend or an extended vacation, you can enjoy your time away knowing your loved one has someone to share a conversation with, providing regular check-ins, encouraging activity and engagement, and providing meaningful companionship.

This summer, give yourself the gift of peace of mind—and give your loved one the gift of connection. Give us a call at 860-533-9343 or visit us at www.ABCCentralCT.com to learn how we can help keep your loved one safe, supported, and connected while you enjoy your well-deserved time away.

Our skin is the body's largest organ, and for older adults, especially those who spend most of their time in bed, keeping skin healthy is an essential part of overall wellness.

When someone is bed-bound, prolonged pressure on the same areas of the body can reduce blood flow and lead to painful pressure injuries (also known as bed sores). The good news is that many of these injuries are preventable with the right care and attention.

Catching changes early can make a significant difference in comfort, healing, and quality of life. This Love Your Skin Day, remember that healthy skin isn't just about appearance—it's about protecting comfort, dignity, and overall health.

Give us a call at 860-533-9343 or visit us at www.ABCCentralCT.com to learn how our compassionate caregivers can provide the support needed to help protect skin health and keep your loved one safe at home.

Sarcoma is a rare type of cancer that begins in the bones or soft tissues, such as muscles, fat, nerves, or blood vessels. Because it is less common and can develop in many parts of the body, it is often overlooked or diagnosed later than other cancers.

This month is dedicated to raising awareness, supporting those affected, and encouraging early recognition of symptoms.

Awareness brings earlier action, early action saves lives. For more information on how Always Best Care can support your loved one through a cancer diagnosis, give us a call at 860-533-9343 or have a quick read of our blog post. https://alwaysbestcare.com/manchester/resources/how-in-home-care-can-provide-relief-during-cancer-care-or-depression/
