Medication Recheck & Refill Policy

Dear Families,

To ensure safe and uninterrupted care, patients who are prescribed medications requiring routine follow-up visits every 2–3 months must have their medication recheck appointments scheduled in advance before their medication supply runs out.

This policy applies especially to medications such as:
• Controlled substances
• SSRI medications
• Other medications requiring regular monitoring

Please check your records to confirm that your child’s follow-up appointment is booked prior to needing a refill. If an appointment is not scheduled and completed on time, there may be a lapse in prescription coverage.

For patient safety, providers cannot continue prescribing these medications without seeing the patient in the office for the required medication recheck.

Notice to Our Patients: Well Child Visits and Additional Concerns🚨

At Healthy Roots Pediatrics, we are committed to providing thorough, high quality care for every child.

Well child visits (annual physical exams) are structured appointments focused on preventive care, including growth and development, routine screenings, immunizations, and anticipatory guidance.
Because of insurance guidelines and time limitations, we are unable to address additional medical concerns or new problems during a scheduled well child check/annual physical exam.

When multiple or complex concerns are brought up during these appointments, it does not allow us to give each issue the careful attention it deserves.

If your child has additional concerns—such as new symptoms, ongoing medical issues, or behavioral/mental health concerns—we kindly ask that you schedule a separate sick visit or follow up appointment.

If your immediate concern for today’s visit includes additional issues, we can change your well child check/annual physical exam to a problem focused visit and reschedule the well child exam for a later date.

We appreciate your understanding as we strive to provide safe, efficient, and comprehensive care to all of our patients.

If you have questions or would like assistance scheduling an additional appointment, please speak with one of our healthcare coordinators at the front desk.
