People call yoga “just stretching” because they mistake the outward movement for the deeper work happening underneath it.

But real practice has never been about touching your toes.

It’s about humility. Discipline. Surrender. Learning to be still long enough to hear yourself clearly again.

Some days the practice strengthens you. Some days it exposes you. Both matter.

Over time, yoga stops feeling like exercise and starts feeling more like devotion. Not to performance or perfection, but to presence. To paying attention. To living with greater patience, honesty, and intention.

Stretching changes muscles.

Practice changes the way you walk through your life.

Today we pause to honor and remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten. 🇺🇸

We will only have the 9AM class today. No other classes will be held as we take time to reflect, rest, and honor Memorial Day.

We are grateful for the freedoms we often take for granted, and for those who made them possible.

YOGI SPOTLIGHT!!! Get to know Joel this month ☺️

When Joel walks into the room, there is a steadiness to how he practices.

He shows up, pays attention, and stays with it. That kind of presence builds quickly, and it is part of what makes the room feel the way it does when he is in it. We are grateful he is part of this community. Take a minute to get to know him below.

"I started practicing yoga about six months ago after feeling stuck in my usual workout routine. I needed more flexibility, especially for my golf game, and looking back, I wish I had started much earlier.

I actually found Bayou Yoga by accident. I was driving a route I do not normally take and saw the sign. It felt like one of those moments you are supposed to pay attention to. Since then, I have realized my first impression was right. There is a real sense of family here, and I genuinely enjoy being part of it.

What I appreciate most is that I can come in, work hard, and not feel pressure to be perfect. There is structure, but also space to figure things out. I enjoy the feel of the room, the music, and the way everything comes together when class starts.

Physically, my flexibility has improved a lot, which has helped my golf game more than I expected. But beyond that, I have noticed I am more focused and present in what I am doing, both in and out of the room.

A little about me, my family and I moved to Louisiana from Trinidad & Tobago in 2009 due to my job (oil and gas). We are proud parents of Mya (26) , Jozette (24) and especially enamored with our granddaughter Zoe (4), who by the way, is a blossoming yogi herself. My beautiful soulmate Dee (I was told to say 41) and I recently celebrated 34 years of wedded bliss. We enjoy hanging out at our home with Zoe, cooking and listening to Bruno Mars (coincidence? Hell Yeah!!!) I am grateful to have found this place and to be part of this community."

Joel’s practice is a good example of what happens when you stay with something long enough for it to start working. Not perfectly, but consistently. Not loudly, but with intention. We are grateful he is part of this space and the way he contributes to it every time he walks in.

So much of daily life pulls us outward.

This evening is an opportunity to return inward.

Through sound, stillness, and Reiki healing, we’ll create space for deep rest and nervous system support. Crystal singing bowls, gong, and vibrational instruments will guide the body toward relaxation while individual Reiki sessions offer gentle energetic care for those who choose to receive.

Come as you are.
No experience needed.
Just space to pause and receive support.

$60

Space is limited to keep the experience intimate.
