Honored to be apart

The Horrific tragedy of 8/8/23 in the town of Lahaina in Maui Hawaii will never be forgotten.

UFA President Andrew Ansbro traveled to Lahaina with Retired Lt. Rob Brown (Sq41) and together they presented a check for $85,500 to the members of the Lahaina Fire dept who lost 16 of their homes that day.

The UFA and the NEW YORK FIREFIGHTER HEART AND LUNG Foundation partnered to raise the funds from members of the FDNY and the money raised was matched by the New York Firefighters Heart & Lung Institute Foundation.

In the tradition of the UFA, we have sworn to return the support to firefighters in need, just as firefighters came to NYC in the wake of the September 11th terrorist attack. We will continue to honor the memory of their kindness and generosity by paying it forward.

We want to thank all the members of the UFA who generously donation and Lt. Brown and his organization for matching that donation to help our fellow firefighters in their time of need.

Practice update…..We are temporarily moving back to 1165 Northern Blvd Suite 400 manhasset NY Dr stahl has graciously teamed up with us to provide temporary space and excellent Cardiac Care for all FDNY members and their families. We are in the process of renovating our new office and look forward to Moving in to that space January 1st 2023! We hope to expand our services to cover extensive medical testing and screening high risk firefighters due to the exposures we ask them to absorb in risking their lives for our families! We will be screening for heart disease, Pulmonary problems, skin cancers, and blood and body type cancers. Our goal is to continue to work with our union partners and provide superior medical care for our FDNY family. Through our Foundation we have been able to give back well over $250,000 since inception and have pledged to give back to FDNY grass root organizations

WE ARE OPEN AND MAKING A DIFFERENCE

REPORT FROM NYFF’s Heart:

Since March 18th (covid shutdown) The team at NYFF’s Heart and Lung has:

Over 200 visits performed on firefighters, first responders and their families:

13 patients needed life saving stents to open up blocked arteries
15 patients found with non obstructive plaque building up in their coronary arteries
14 patients with chest pain that were COVID-19 positive
60 patients tested for COVID-19 antibodies
23 positive
3 members diagnosed with Thyroid cancer
77 patients with high cholesterol
53 patients with HIgh Blood Pressure
Over 100 members diagnosed with RADS/asthma with some members needing to retire

The New York Firefighters Heart and Lung has directly been involved with diagnosing and treating blockages in the heart over 150 firefighters and First responders since our inception in 2002 many of these were active members that could have Died in the Line of Duty (if not found early)
