That walk to the next machine on glute day deserves its own exercise category 🍑

You finish your set, stand up like everything is completely normal, and suddenly every step has a little more personality than it did five minutes ago. Not saying the glutes are feeling themselves, but I’m also not saying they aren’t 😂

And yes, the burn is real. That burning feeling can happen as your muscles fatigue during a hard set, but more burn doesn’t automatically mean a more effective workout. It’s not the scorecard for whether your training is “working.”

For progress, focus on good form, controlled reps and giving your muscles an appropriate challenge over time. The goal isn’t to chase the burn. Sometimes it just happens to come with a very specific walk to the next machine 💀

If you know the glute day walk, you know.

We spend a lot of time thinking about what our bodies look like, but some of the most important parts of our health are things we’ll never see🤍

Your heart, brain, gut, liver, kidneys and lungs are working for you all day, every day. And supporting them usually looks a lot less complicated than the wellness world can make it seem.

It’s the basics we’ve been told for years: eat well, move your body, get enough sleep, stay hydrated, manage stress, breathe deeply and keep up with preventive care.

None of that is new, but that’s exactly the point. Before reaching for another supplement, tracker or wellness hack, it’s worth making sure the foundation is actually there.

This carousel is a simple reminder of what supports your organ health and why doing the basics consistently still matters so much ➡️

We don’t need to hack everything. Sometimes we just need to do the things we already know help 🤍

I can work out 5x a week and genuinely feel amazing.

I can also get out of bed the morning after a hard workout and briefly wonder when I aged 40 years overnight 😂

Sore muscles, stiff legs, suddenly lowering yourself into a chair like it’s an Olympic event… that part actually has a name. DOMS, or delayed onset muscle soreness, can show up after a hard or unfamiliar workout and often peaks around 24 to 72 hours later.

And a little reminder: being more sore does not mean you had a better workout. Soreness can happen when your muscles are adjusting to a new or more demanding stimulus, but it isn’t the goal of training.

The crack, pop, creak soundtrack every time I stand up? Not DOMS. Those sounds can come from things like gas moving in a joint or tendons and ligaments shifting as you move.

Which brings me to the less exciting part of strength training that matters just as much: recovery. Getting enough sleep, eating enough, prioritizing protein, staying hydrated and giving your body appropriate rest all help you recover and adapt to the work you’re putting in.

Strong? Yes. Silent? Apparently not 😂

If you see me at the gym and I don’t say hi, there is a very good chance I genuinely did not see you 😭

Between sets, I’m usually trying to remember what I’m doing next and recover from whatever just happened. Knowing my luck, one of my contacts has probably popped out mid-set, so now I’m working with 50% visibility, a prayer, and Spotify Top Hits.

So no, I’m not ignoring you. My facial recognition is {sometimes} unavailable during workouts.

If I’ve ever ignored you at the gym, please consider this my formal apology 💀

People: "You train so hard... where are the abs?" 😭

Me, halfway through a massive post-workout meal: "Probably under here somewhere."

I think we've been conditioned to believe that if someone exercises consistently, they should automatically have visible abs.

Could I have more visible abs? Possibly. But for me, that would likely require maintaining a lower body fat percentage than I personally choose for my body and the lifestyle I want to live.

Visible abs tell a story. They're often a reflection of genetics, muscle mass, nutrition, body composition, training, and personal priorities. I'm not knocking anyone who has them. If that's your goal and it genuinely aligns with the life you want to live, I fully support it.

For me, I've chosen a different definition of success. I want to train hard, fuel my body well, recover properly, enjoy dinner with friends, celebrate birthdays, travel, and still feel strong and healthy.

At the end of the day, the goal isn't to look like someone else. It's to build a lifestyle that supports the life you want to live.

I'll happily take that... and my post-workout dinner 🍝

When we're trying to eat more protein, fiber, healthy fats, vitamins, or minerals, it's easy to rely on the same handful of foods. While there's nothing wrong with having favorites, expanding your options can make it easier to meet your nutrition goals while bringing more variety to your meals.

One of my favorite reminders is that no single food contains everything your body needs. Every food offers its own unique combination of nutrients, which is one of the reasons eating a wide variety of foods can be so beneficial.

Swipe through for a few of my favorite popular vs. underrated foods that can help you add more variety to your plate and maybe even discover a new favorite ➡️

Which underrated food do you think deserves more attention? Or is there one you'd add to the list?

Me: "Maybe I should talk to someone about how I'm feeling..." 🤔

Also me: "Or... hear me out... leg day."

There's just something about putting on my headphones, getting a good lift in, and walking out feeling like life got a little less overwhelming.

No, the gym doesn't solve every problem, and it isn't a replacement for taking care of your mental health. I'm also a big believer in therapy, not just when you're struggling, but as a proactive way to care for your mental health, too.

For me, exercise is simply another tool that helps me clear my head, reset, and remind myself that I'm capable of doing hard things.

Some days I leave with the exact same problems I walked in with... they just feel a little more manageable.

Anyone else leave the gym feeling like a completely different person?

When someone asks why I bother meal planning instead of just eating whatever I'm craving...respectfully... this is exactly why.

If I left every meal up to the mood I was in, there's a very real chance I'd be surviving on croissants, pasta, and whatever sweet treat caught my eye that day.

Meal prepping & planning has made staying consistent so much easier. I don't have to rely on willpower or make food decisions every few hours because the healthy choice is already waiting for me.

And the best part? It actually leaves room for the foods I love. Because yes, I will absolutely have the Nutella croissant... maaaaaybe just not one the size of this one 🤣 🥐

Balance, planning, and a little treat here and there, that's the lifestyle I'm sticking with xx

When my girlfriends ask why I was at the gym for three hours... 😭😂

In my defense, I was working out. I just got a little distracted between sets.

One good song turned into a full concert, I refilled my water bottle, caught up with a few people, stretched for approximately 17 business days, and then realized it had been way too long since my last set.

Somehow my one-hour workout became a three-hour gym adventure.

Honestly, that's one of my favorite parts about the gym. When you genuinely enjoy being there, you're not watching the clock. You're enjoying the music, the atmosphere, the workout, and the people around you.

I'd call that time well spent 🤝

Did you know these four tiny seeds can pack a big nutritional punch for women? 🌻

When we think about improving nutrition, it's easy to focus on major dietary changes. In reality, many long-term habits are built from small decisions repeated consistently over time.

Seeds are a great example. Just a few tablespoons can increase your intake of fiber, unsaturated fats, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and beneficial plant compounds. While each seed has its own unique nutritional profile, including a variety throughout the week can help increase the nutrient density of your meals and snacks.

The best part? They're incredibly versatile. Sprinkle them over oatmeal, yogurt, salads, smoothies, grain bowls, or avocado toast for an easy nutritional boost.

Swipe through to learn what makes pumpkin, flax, sesame, and sunflower seeds unique, along with simple ways to enjoy each one.
