One of the hardest things to do is stop judging your past self with the knowledge you have today. You keep telling yourself you should have known better, seen the signs, left sooner, spoken up sooner.

But the truth is, you only know what you know now because life taught you.Some lessons don’t come through advice. They come through experience, heartbreak, mistakes, healing, and time.

You didn’t fail. You learned.
Be kinder to the version of you that was still figuring it out.

Anxiety has a way of making imagined scenarios feel like facts.
You think of the worst case, then your brain starts building a whole story around it. Before you know it, your body is reacting as if it already happened.

Pause and ask yourself:

“What’s the actual probability of this happening?”

Then ask:

“And if it did happen, could I handle it?”

Most of the time the answer is yes.

Trauma can make you hypervigilant, guarded, disconnected, anxious, and constantly stuck in survival mode.
But healing is not letting what happened to you become your entire identity. You can feel safe again. You can trust yourself again. You can come back to yourself again.

Your trauma is part of your story, not your identity.

A lot of people think healing means avoiding pain, distracting themselves, or “moving on quickly.” But emotions that are never processed don’t disappear. They usually show up somewhere else, anxiety, burnout, numbness, anger, even in the body.

Real healing is allowing yourself to feel without being afraid that you’ll stay stuck there forever.

We’ve normalised documenting everything.
Children growing up online before they even understand what privacy means. Elderly people being filmed in their most vulnerable states.
Moments that should be protected… turned into content.
And at the same time, we’re all being pulled into this loop of visibility. Post. Perform. Be seen. Repeat.

It starts to look like confidence but a lot of the time, it’s dependence.On validation, on reactions, on being watched.

That’s the part we don’t talk about enough.
Because this isn’t just about content anymore, it’s about identity. About what happens when your sense of self slowly shifts from who you are to how you’re perceived.
And the scariest part? It happens so gradually, you don’t even notice it.
Maybe the question isn’t whether social media is good or bad. Maybe it’s this:
What is it turning you into?
