July is UV Protection Awareness Month. There is a connection between ultraviolet (UV) light and cancers of the skin, eyes, and lips. Exposure to UV rays, both natural (from the sun) and artificial (from tanning beds, gel manicure lamps or welding torches) causes most skin cancers, including basal cell, squamous cell cancers, and melanoma.
