This Friday, Shady Lane will be joining Nicolet Bank's Back 2 School Event, where families can access school supplies to help students start the new school year prepared and confident.

We're excited to be taking part in Nicolet Bank's Back 2 School Event happening this Friday supporting Manitowoc County students in need of school supplies this fall! Here's what you need to know:

When: Friday, August 7th, 2026 | 12 p.m. - 3 p.m.

**PLEASE CONSIDER SHARING THIS POST TO HELP US FIND THE MISSING MILITARY BANNER...**

Shady Lane, Inc. is asking for the community's assistance in locating a missing Salute to Service banner honoring Private Robert L. Nelson.

The banner, which had been displayed on a City of Manitowoc utility pole at the corner of South 12th Street and Dewey Street, became detached during the recent high winds earlier this week and has not yet been recovered.

The missing banner is approximately 6 feet tall and features the words "Manitowoc's Salute to Service" along with the name and photograph of Private Robert L. Nelson. A photo of the missing banner is attached to assist the public in identifying it.

The Salute to Service Banner Program recognizes and honors local veterans and active-duty military members for their service to our country. Each banner represents an individual who has served and holds significant sentimental value for their family and our community.

Anyone who finds the banner is asked to return it to one of the following locations:

City Clerk's Office – Manitowoc City Hall 900 Quay Street Manitowoc, WI 54220

If someone locates the banner but is unable to transport it, they are encouraged to contact Shady Lane, Inc. at (920) 682-8254 so arrangements can be made for pickup.

"We know this banner is meaningful to Private Nelson's family and to our community," said Deanne Weier, Administrator of Shady Lane, Inc. "We're hopeful that someone may have found it or will recognize it from the attached photo. We would be incredibly grateful for the community's help in returning it so it can continue to honor Private Nelson's service."

Join our team as a full-time AM shift Nurse Scheduler to become an integral member to enrich the lives of the residents we serve. Our Shady Lane, Inc. campus provides quality care to residents for rehab that has a focus on goal oriented daily tasks; home-like assisted living; and customized skilled nursing care. No matter what the need we are committed to provide compassionate care at a reasonable cost as a non-profit community based organization.

The Nurse Scheduler for our Shady Lane, Inc. campus is responsible for staffing all shifts in the Nursing Department to ensure sufficient coverage/staffing needs are met while maintaining accurate attendance/payroll records and completing assigned administrative tasks in an accurate and timely manner.

To be considered for this exciting position we are looking for the following qualifications:

- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must be detail oriented and possess strong time management skills
- Commitment to HIPAA compliance and professionalism
- Excellent attendance and the ability to have a flexible work schedule
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications
- Scheduling experience preferred
- Certified Nurse Aide, Resident Assistant, and/or Medication Technician experience with a willingness to work in a caregiver capacity as needed, preferred

Amy Skarvan, BSN, RN is a quality specialist with Froedtert Holy Family Memorial. Prior to this Amy was a staff RN at FHFM. Amy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Bellin College. Today, we celebrate the people who have spent a lifetime loving, teaching, encouraging, and supporting others.

At Shady Lane, we're honored to know so many incredible mothers and fathers whose lives have been filled with bedtime stories, school concerts, family traditions, words of wisdom, and countless acts of unconditional love. Their legacies continue to shape the families and communities around them.

We also want to recognize the sons, daughters, grandchildren, and loved ones who now find themselves caring for the very people who once cared for them. Your compassion, patience, and devotion are a beautiful reflection of the love you received.

To every parent, grandparent, and caregiver - thank you for the lives you've touched and the love you've shared.
