Constipated? 💩 Consider addressing your morning routine!

🧘 Are you rushing around and out the door? This puts input into our sympathetic nervous system, or our fight or flight response. In order to have a bowel movement, we need to have more input into our parasympathetic, or rest and digest, part of our nervous system.

🍳🍎🥯Taking time to sit down and eat something chewable before heading out will help stimulate our gastrocolic reflex and movement through the colon.

☕️ And finally, sipping a warm drink like a warm coffee or tea is also helpful in stimulating peristalsis or smooth muscle contraction through the colon.

Try it and see if these simple adjustments to your morning start to make a difference! ☀️

Do you get a chafing, stinging, sandpaper or finger nail-like feeling with insertion during s3xual activity?

This could be due to low estrogen resulting in tissue that is thinner, drier, and more fragile/prone to micro-abrasions.

Common times for estrogen to be low are if you are recently postpartum, lactating, or entering/in menopause.

Ask your Obgyn about a prescription for local vaginal estrogen to help with this symptom! And be sure to see a pelvic PT since this is just one aspect of the full picture to long-term symptom resolution and pelvic health!

Are you constantly having to p*e or worried about where you’ll find the next bathroom? What’s actually normal?

On average, a void interval of about every 2-4 hours throughout the day and 0-1x/night for about 5-8 voids in a 24 hour period is considered normal.

If you find yourself chronically emptying much sooner than every 2 hours or chronically holding your bladder >4 hours at a time during the day (I see you nurses and teachers!), this can start to disrupt the brain-bladder signaling.

Need help resetting your bladder so you can break free from leaks or planning life around finding the next bathroom? Link in bio to request appointment on our website!
