GLP-1 Weight Management Update
At Clarendon Health & Wellness Center, we are committed to helping patients achieve long-term, healthy weight loss. GLP-1 medications are one tool—but they work best when combined with lasting lifestyle changes.
Who Qualifies?
GLP-1 medications are not prescribed for patients with a healthy BMI. Your provider will determine if you meet medical criteria based on your BMI, health conditions, and medical history. If you have diabetes, moderate-severe obstructive sleep apnea or MASH (Metabolic dysfunction-Associated Steatohepatitis) you do not qualify for this bridge program (per CMS).
Insurance & Prior Authorization
Our office will complete the initial prior authorization required by your insurance. If your insurance denies coverage, it will be the patient’s responsibility to complete the appeal process. Insurance approval is never guaranteed, even if medical criteria are met.
Lifestyle Commitment
Successful weight loss requires more than medication. Patients are expected to actively work toward healthy lifestyle changes, including:
✅ Regular physical activity
✅ Healthy, balanced nutrition
✅ Stress management
✅ Healthy sleep habits
✅ Adequate hydration
✅ Portion control and mindful eating
Monthly Follow-Up Visits
Patients prescribed a GLP-1 medication must be seen monthly by their provider to:
✔️Monitor weight loss and progress
✔️Assess for side effects
✔️Adjust medication doses when appropriate
✔️Discuss nutrition and lifestyle goals
✔️Meet insurance and prescribing requirements
Important Information
❗️Medication doses may be adjusted gradually to minimize side effects.
❗️Common side effects include nausea, constipation, diarrhea, vomiting, decreased appetite, and heartburn.
❗️Contact our office immediately if you experience severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, signs of dehydration, or other concerning symptoms.
❗️Do not make changes to your medication without speaking to your provider.
Our goal is to help you achieve safe, sustainable weight loss while improving your overall health through medication, education, and healthy lifestyle habits.
