Same child. Same test. 4 months apart. ➡️Swipe to see the improvement after VT 👏👏👏

This is the Wold Sentence Copying Test — a 1-minute task that challenges visual motor integration, eye tracking, eye teaming, and visual processing speed.

➡️ Before vision therapy:
Fewer words, very poor spacing/sizing, poor clarity, increased effort.

➡️ After 4 months of VT:
More words copied, improved spacing, better control, and much more efficient handwriting.

This 8 year old patient had an eye turn and had already undergone 3 strabismus surgeries — but was still struggling with the functional side of vision.

💡 Surgery can align the eyes…
…but it doesn’t always develop the visual motor and binocular skills needed for tasks like reading and writing.

That’s where vision therapy makes the difference.

20/20 is just the starting line — not the finish line.

Behind every success in vision therapy… there’s a TEAM 💙

At Optocize, every patient has both a Behavioral Optometrist and a Vision Therapist working together every step of the way.

👁️ The Behavioral Optometrist evaluates, diagnoses, and creates each patient’s treatment plan
🧠 The Vision Therapist is the one in the room every week—guiding sessions, building skills, and ensuring progress

The Vision Therapist is the one:
✔️ Coaching patients through challenges
✔️ Adjusting activities in real time
✔️ Keeping patients motivated and confident

✨ Vision therapy isn’t just a program—it’s a partnership.

Together, the Behavioral Optometrist and Vision Therapist help patients not just see better… but function better every single day 💙

Optometrist vs. Ophthalmologist… what’s the difference? 👀

Both take care of your eyes — but they play different roles 👇

Optometrist (OD):
Your primary eye doctor
✔️ Comprehensive eye exams
✔️ Glasses & contact lenses
✔️ Diagnosing & managing eye conditions
✔️ Evaluating eye teaming, tracking, and focusing (binocular vision)
✔️ Vision therapy (for things like eye strain, double vision, reading issues)

Ophthalmologist (MD):
A medical doctor specializing in eye disease & surgery
✔️ Treats eye diseases (glaucoma, cataracts, retinal issues)
✔️ Performs eye surgery
✔️ Manages complex medical eye conditions

So… when should you see each?

👉 Start with an optometrist for:
• Routine eye exams
• Headaches, eye strain, blurred or double vision
• Reading or school-related concerns
• Glasses/contacts

👉 See an ophthalmologist for:
• Eye injuries or infections
• Sudden vision loss
• Cataracts or surgical needs
• Advanced eye disease

💡 In many cases, we work together to make sure you get the best care possible.

And remember…
20/20 is just the starting line — not the finish line.

Kids with vision issues rarely complain of symptoms.

Not because nothing is wrong…but because they adapt.

They don’t say “things are blurry”

📚 They say “I don’t like reading”
😵 They don’t say “my eyes hurt”
❌ They just avoid, rush, or get frustrated

Many vision problems don’t show up on a standard eye chart.

That’s why we go beyond 20/20 to evaluate how the eyes actually work together.

If something feels off, trust your gut.

📍Vision is more than 20/20.

PSA: Not all eye exams are the same.

For kids—especially younger ones—we can’t rely on them to tell us what they see.

That’s why objective testing (like retinoscopy) is so important.
It allows us to accurately measure vision without relying on a child to read letters or guess.

If your child is struggling but was told “everything looks fine”… it might be time to take a closer look.

But how is a binocular vision consultation different from a routine eye exam?? 👀

Most eye exams focus on how clearly you can see (20/20) and how healthy the actual eyeball is.

But at Optocize, we look at something deeper—how your visual system actually functions.

Because you can have perfect 20/20 vision… and still struggle to use your eyes comfortably and efficiently.

In this video, you’re seeing just a glimpse of what we test during a binocular vision consult:

✔️ Eye teaming (do the eyes work together as a team?)
✔️ Eye tracking (can the eyes move smoothly across a page?)
✔️ Eye focusing (can you sustain clear vision up close?)
✔️ Other visual skills that impact how you read, learn, and perform

These are the skills behind symptoms like:
• Headaches
• Eye strain
• Double or shadowed vision
• Losing your place while reading
• Trouble focusing or avoiding near work

Many patients we see have been told:
“Everything looks normal.”

But these skills often aren’t fully evaluated in a routine exam.

At Optocize, we connect the dots between what you’re feeling… and how your visual system is functioning.

✨ Because 20/20 is just the starting line — not the finish line.

Some kids see this when they read…
…and never say a word.

Words may look:
📖 Blurry
📖 Double
📖 Like they’re moving on the page

But many kids don’t complain.

Why?

Because they assume:
👉 “This is just how everyone sees”

They don’t know it could be easier. That’s all they’ve ever seen - that’s their normal!

Instead, you might notice other subtle signs:
• Avoiding reading
• Losing their place
• Using their finger to keep track
• Getting tired with reading
• Struggling despite trying hard

👉 20/20 vision does NOT mean everything is working correctly.

A child can pass a vision screening…
and still be dealing with this every day.

If your child isn’t complaining, that doesn’t always mean everything is fine.

Sometimes, they just don’t know anything different.

📩 If something feels off, trust your gut—we’re here to help.

What’s the difference between good and great athletes?

It’s not just strength.
It’s not just practice.

👀 It’s how they see the game.

Most people think vision = 20/20…
But in sports, vision is:
⚡ Reaction time
🎯 Tracking a fast-moving ball
📏 Depth perception
🤝 Eye-hand coordination

These are the skills that determine:
• Who makes contact
• Who reacts faster
• Who stays one step ahead

And the best part?
👉 These skills can be trained.

If your child:
• Misses easy catches
• Struggles with timing
• Seems “just a step behind”

…it may not be effort. It may be vision.

Because 20/20 is just the starting line—not the finish line.

“But…how do you know what glasses a baby needs if they can’t read letters?” 👶👓

This is one of the most common questions we get—and the answer is retinoscopy.

In this video, you’re seeing the retinoscopy reflex—the light we shine into the eye that allows us to objectively measure how the eye is focusing.

✨ No guessing
✨ No letter chart needed
✨ Works for babies, toddlers, non-verbal patients, and adults!

By observing how light moves across the retina, we can determine if a child is farsighted, nearsighted, or has astigmatism—and prescribe the exact lenses they need.

👶 This is why eye exams are so important—even before kids can talk or read.
Because vision is more than 20/20—and we don’t need letters to measure it.
