AT FIRST GLANCE, COLORECTAL SURGERY AND MED-SPAS

don’t seem to go together, but they are complementary when under the expert care of Dr. Anna Toker, a colon and rectal surgeon specializing in robotic surgery and medical director of SKANDii MedSpa in Mansfield, Texas.

“At the medical spa, my nurse injectors focus on facial esthetics, nonsurgical approaches to weight loss and body sculpting in o

ur MedGym,” Dr. Toker says. “As a colorectal surgeon, I spend a lot of time discussing diet as medical management for hemorrhoids, constipation, IBS, incontinence, and diverticulitis. Proper nutrition can improve the outcomes of my surgical patients and contribute to narcotic-free surgeries, which leads to shorter recovery times. This is why I promote whole food supplement that people can research on their own and purchase at drannatoker.com.”

“The lynch pin between the two practices is the Emsella device, designed to improve incontinence and pelvic floor dysfunction,” Dr. Toker says. “A 30-minute Emsella session has the same results as 17,000 Kegel exercises, eliminating the discomfort or embarrassment of traditional pelvic floor therapy and potentially eliminating the need for pelvic floor reconstruction. I offer this service as physcial therapy billable to insurance.”

Should Emsella physical therapy fail to improve incontinence, Dr. Toker also offers Interstim, an outpatient procedure to implant a sacral nerve stimulating device, to her patients. “Whether a patient needs major surgery or not, a large portion of my discussions with patients revolve around normalizing intestinal function,” Dr. Toker says. “If major colon surgery is needed, my patients can expect a 48-hour hospital stay after robotic approaches with very few complications. I post a lot of free content at my instagram channel . Follow me there or on facebook or youtube at both and .”

💧 "Drink more water."
It's probably the most common health advice out there...
But what if the problem isn't that you're underhydrated...
What if you're under-mineralized?

Your body doesn't just need water. It needs the right balance of electrolytes to move that water where it's supposed to go.

In this week's Gut Check, I'm breaking down:
🧂 Why sodium has gotten an unfair reputation
⚡ The surprising role salt plays in stomach acid, hydration, and your body's electrical system
💪 Why potassium, magnesium, and calcium matter just as much
If you've ever felt tired, crampy, lightheaded, or like you're drinking water all day but still don't feel hydrated...this one's worth a watch.

Comment GUT CHECK and I'll send you the link to join my members-only community, where you'll get exclusive weekly videos, my newsletter, and direct access to yours truly.

Because sometimes the missing ingredient isn't more water...it's what you're putting in it.

🌎 Vacation Reset Series | Part 6: Take Your Shoes Off
One of the simplest health habits you can practice on vacation doesn't cost a thing.
Take off your shoes.

Our bodies are constantly producing free radicals as part of normal metabolism. Add in stress, poor sleep, processed foods, and modern living, and that inflammatory burden can grow.
One way to reconnect with nature? Grounding.

👣 Walk barefoot on the beach.
🌱 Stand in the grass.
🌊 Wade into the ocean, lake, or even a pool.

Just 10 minutes of direct contact with the earth can be a simple way to reconnect with the natural world and support your body's normal physiology.
Vacation gives us the rare opportunity to slow down and reconnect with habits our bodies were designed for. Don't spend the entire trip insulated by shoes, concrete, and technology.
Sometimes the healthiest thing you can do...is simply feel the sand between your toes.

🏖️ This is Part 6 of my Vacation Reset Series. If you missed the first five lessons, head back to my profile and catch up. Each one builds on the last to help you come home healthier than when you left.

☀️ Vacation Reset Series | Part 5: Your Brain Doesn't Wear a Watch

Your brain doesn't know what time it is.
It only knows light.
From the moment the sun comes up until you go to bed, your brain is constantly reading the type of light entering your eyes to decide when to produce hormones, regulate stress, support your gut, and prepare you for sleep.
The problem?
Most of us spend our days under artificial lighting...then end our nights staring at phones, TVs, and tablets that flood our brains with blue light long after the sun has gone down.
Vacation is the perfect opportunity to reset.

🌅 Get outside during the day.
📵 Put the screens away before bed.
🔥 End the evening with conversation on the porch, a beach walk, or around a campfire instead of another hour of scrolling.

Sometimes the healthiest part of vacation isn't where you go...it's giving your brain a chance to remember what a natural day feels like.

🏖️ This is Part 5 of my Vacation Reset Series. If you missed the first four lessons, head back to my profile and catch up. Each one is designed to help you return home healthier than when you left.

☀️ Vacation Reset Series | Part 4: It's Not All or Nothing
When it comes to sunshine, we've been taught to pick a side...
Wear sunscreen all the time. ☀️🧴
Or never wear it at all.

The truth? It's more nuanced than that.

As someone who has survived melanoma and had multiple precancerous lesions removed, I don't take sun safety lightly. I also know our bodies were designed to benefit from sunlight.
Here's my approach:

🌅 Before 9 a.m. and during the last couple of hours before sunset, I enjoy the sun without sunscreen or sunglasses. That's when I let my body soak in the benefits of natural light.

☀️ Between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., when UV exposure is at its strongest, I protect my skin and my eyes with quality sunscreen and UV-blocking sunglasses.

Health isn't usually found at the extremes. More often, it's about understanding when your body benefits from something...and when it needs protection.

🏖️ This is Part 4 of my Vacation Reset Series. If you're just joining us, head back to my profile and watch Parts 1–3. Each reel is another simple habit to help you come home healthier than when you left.

Ever finish a meal...only to find yourself standing in the pantry 30 minutes later? 👀
Here's the thing...
Being hungry all the time isn't always a lack of willpower. Sometimes it's biology.

Yes, processed foods are engineered to keep you coming back for more. But that's only part of the story. There are other reasons your body may be sending constant "feed me" signals—and they're probably not what you think.

In this week's Gut Check, I'm unpacking what really drives hunger and why understanding your gut may be the missing piece you've been looking for.

Because if you can understand your hunger...you can finally stop fighting it. 💚
