AT FIRST GLANCE, COLORECTAL SURGERY AND MED-SPAS

don’t seem to go together, but they are complementary when under the expert care of Dr. Anna Toker, a colon and rectal surgeon specializing in robotic surgery and medical director of SKANDii MedSpa in Mansfield, Texas.

“At the medical spa, my nurse injectors focus on facial esthetics, nonsurgical approaches to weight loss and body sculpting in o

ur MedGym,” Dr. Toker says. “As a colorectal surgeon, I spend a lot of time discussing diet as medical management for hemorrhoids, constipation, IBS, incontinence, and diverticulitis. Proper nutrition can improve the outcomes of my surgical patients and contribute to narcotic-free surgeries, which leads to shorter recovery times. This is why I promote whole food supplement that people can research on their own and purchase at drannatoker.com.”

“The lynch pin between the two practices is the Emsella device, designed to improve incontinence and pelvic floor dysfunction,” Dr. Toker says. “A 30-minute Emsella session has the same results as 17,000 Kegel exercises, eliminating the discomfort or embarrassment of traditional pelvic floor therapy and potentially eliminating the need for pelvic floor reconstruction. I offer this service as physcial therapy billable to insurance.”

Should Emsella physical therapy fail to improve incontinence, Dr. Toker also offers Interstim, an outpatient procedure to implant a sacral nerve stimulating device, to her patients. “Whether a patient needs major surgery or not, a large portion of my discussions with patients revolve around normalizing intestinal function,” Dr. Toker says. “If major colon surgery is needed, my patients can expect a 48-hour hospital stay after robotic approaches with very few complications. I post a lot of free content at my instagram channel . Follow me there or on facebook or youtube at both and .”

Let’s do some math.

One month of Gut Check = $2.99

One impulse purchase at Target = approximately your entire paycheck.

For less than the cost of a coffee, you can spend the next month learning how your gut, metabolism, blood sugar, and microbiome are influencing the way you feel every day.

No fads. No fear tactics. No magic powders harvested from a mystical mountain.

Just science, practical education, and a colore**al surgeon who’s spent decades studying this stuff.

If weight gain feels harder to fight than ever before… it may not just be calories and willpower.
This week inside Gut Check, we’re talking about something most people completely overlook:
The connection between toxins and weight gain.

Obesity rates didn’t slowly creep up over centuries.
They exploded in just a few decades.
Back in the early 90s, obesity affected less than 10% of the population.
Now it’s impacting well over half.
That kind of rapid shift doesn’t point to genetics.
It points to the environment.

We’re diving into how everyday toxins may be disrupting metabolism, altering hormones, increasing inflammation, and contributing to weight gain in ways most people never consider.

This conversation changes the way you look at “weight loss” completely.

Sugar free gum sounds like the “healthier” choice…
Until you realize what it may be doing to your gut. 😬
A lot of sugar free gums use sugar alcohols like xylitol, and while that may sound better than sugar, your microbiome may disagree.

Add in the fact that chewing gum makes you swallow extra air, and now your poor stomach is over there trying to figure out why it feels like a balloon.

Sugar free does not mean gut friendly.

One thing that stood out to me while traveling through Europe?
People were eating pasta, bread, pastries… and not walking around bloated and miserable afterward. Obesity and Celiac Disease isnt rampant there like it is here.

Meanwhile in the US, so many people can barely tolerate a sandwich.
Why?
Because in countries like Italy, certain glyphosate practices used on crops here in the United States are actually illegal.

That means the wheat is often grown and processed very differently.
Here, many conventional wheat crops are sprayed with glyphosate-based chemicals like Roundup.
A chemical designed to kill living organisms.
And your gut microbiome IS a living ecosystem.

So before we villainize bread entirely, maybe we should start asking better questions about our food supply.

Your gut isn’t crazy.
It’s responding to what it’s being exposed to.

Your brain fog might not be a brain problem.
Your anxiety, low mood, overwhelm, or constant mental exhaustion may actually be starting in your gut.

This week inside Gut Check, we’re diving into The Gut Brain Reset and breaking down the powerful connection between your microbiome, neurotransmitters, serotonin production, and mental health.

Here’s the part most people never hear:
Nearly 98% of your serotonin is produced in the gut.

So if your gut is inflamed, depleted, sluggish, or out of balance… your brain feels it too.
We’re talking:
• Why protein and amino acids matter for neurotransmitter production
• How your microbiome helps create brain chemicals
• The hidden gut connection to anxiety and depression
• Why gut health has to come BEFORE true brain health

This one is fascinating and honestly… foundational.

I may not have influencers posting “OBSESSED 😍” after their colonoscopy…

But I do have patients who quietly tell me:
“I finally got my life back.”
“I’m not in pain anymore.”
“I can travel again.”
“I’m not scared to leave my house.”

And honestly?
That means more to me than all the viral praise in the world.

A lot of the work I do lives behind anonymity, embarrassment, and deeply personal struggles people rarely talk about publicly.

But helping someone regain their health, confidence, dignity, and quality of life will never stop feeling meaningful.

Even if nobody’s making TikTok montages about their favorite colore**al surgeon.
