On Sunday September 13th Darrell Grubb, age 63, passed away peacefully in his home.

Darrell was known as Tootie affectionately by his family and friends and nurses who loved him dearly. Darrell lived to be 63 years old despite his health struggles. Darrell lived a full life of outings with the family, camping and trips to Florida. Darrell loved being around his family and friends and all of our family dogs.

He was cared for and loved dearly by his parents Darrell and Elaine Grubb followed by his younger brother Patrick Grubb and sister Tessa Grubb. Each and every one of his nurses were special and became extended family members. The days of his life are marked by love, courage, strength and family dedication. Darrell will be greatly missed but we know he is with our Lord and Savior in Heaven. Darrell was preceded in death by his father Darrell Grubb. He is survived by his mother Elaine Grubb, his brother Patrick Grubb (Stephanie Grubb), his sister Tessa Grubb, and nephew Aidan Grubb, and all the four legged girls (Jazzy, Gracie, Molly, Bella and Phoebe).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hattie Larlham, 9772 Diagonal Road, Mantua, OH 44255.

Peggy Lou Daniels passed away peacefully on September 12, 2026 in Hiram Ohio, at the age of 88 following a recent diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Willam "Baldy" Daniels, her parents, Harry and Martha Roddy, and older siblings, Gladys, Doris and Bill.

She is survived by a beloved daughter and son-in law, Terri and Andy, adoring grandchildren, Holly and Andrew, treasured great grand daughter Alice, loving sister Pam and many others.

Peggy was born in Ligonier, PA in 1938. She married Willam Daniels on July 18th, 1958. Their 49 years of marriage ended with William's death on September 25th, 2007. Peggy spent her life as a homemaker, lavishing love on her daughter and grandchildren. Her unshakable faith in God made her a pillar to her family and the strength of her conviction was passed down to her daughter, grandchildren and great grandchild.

Peggy was described by all as a "firecracker" because her zest for life was unaffected by her age. Peggy spent her days traveling, gardening, and tackling housing projects solo, undeterred by her 88 years. Peggy added humor and practical wisdom to every conversation with her unique brand of wit. She could often be found driving to or planning her next trip with her daughter, Terri. Though Peggy's travels included Europe and much of the US, she had a particular fondness of the beach. Joe Pallotto was born on February 7th, 1966 in Cleveland, Ohio, and was a graduate of Garfield Heights High School. In 1985, Joe met his lifelong partner, Linda Keiper, and they married in 1991. Together they raised two wonderful children, Nathan and Lauren. Family was important to him; he enjoyed spending time and sharing laughs together.

Joe was a skilled craftsman who had a passion for creating. He had a God-given talent to develop and build in different mediums. He was a carpenter by trade for Turner Construction Company in Cleveland. Over the past few years Joe started making traditional archery bows, using different woods and materials, it became a passion and He loved shooting them as much as making them.

Joe enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, and taking care of his chickens, but his biggest passion, by far, was cycling. Early on he developed a lifelong love for cycling, and enjoyed road cycling, mountain biking, cyclo-cross, and gravel, which lasted over 40 years. He. The cycling community was a family to him and a source of joy, love and laughter.

Joe is preceded in death by grandparents Stanley and Marge Trycinski, loving in-laws Charles and Ida Keiper. Robert “Bob” Donald Richards, 92, of Aurora, died September 8, 2026, at home. He was born June 21, 1934, in Barnesboro, PA, to Charles and Alberta (Conrad) Richards.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Kathleen Hilzinger and Evelyn Leslie, and brothers, Charles Richards and Lewis Richards.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Burley) Richards, having just celebrated 65 years of marriage this past July; and sons, Robert Jr. (Sharon) of Aurora, David of Aurora, Eric of Florence, SC, and Mark (Shayna) Richards of Stow; daughters, Alberta (Joseph) Borneo of Saline, MI, and Denise (Andy) Romero of Houston, TX.

Also survived by grandchildren: Rachel Richards, Chelsea Richards, Robert Richards III, Brian Borneo, Nicholas Borneo, Jordan Richards, David Richards Jr., Erin Romero, Claire Romero, Sarah Richards, Olivia Richards, and Trevor Richards, as well as great-grandchildren: Damien, Leela, Aria, and Levi.

Formerly employed at Chrysler Parts Depot until retirement, he also served in the Army after graduation from high school. After retirement, Bob traveled with Dorothy to Ireland, various cities and sites across the United States, as well as visiting family in Pennsylvania, Texas, South Carolina, and Michigan. He enjoyed walking with his “walking buddies” at Sunny Lake in Aurora for many years. He also spent time at his home with family in his “sunroom,” bird watching and caring for his lawn and garden while healthy.

Rebecca “Becky” Loos (nee Fowler) was born on June 25, 1960. Sadly, she unexpectedly left us on August 31, 2026.

Becky was a graduate of James Rhodes High School in Cleveland, Ohio. Even now, there is a wooden, orange-painted hall pass tucked away in her library from those days. Upon graduation, she attended Kent State University to follow in her mother and grandmother’s footsteps in becoming a nurse. Becky earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing and went on to pass her state boards. She worked at different hospitals and spent some time as a cook at Hiram College before finding her true nursing passion. Becky loved working with individuals with developmental disabilities. She spent many years working as a floor nurse and eventually becoming a Nurse Manager at Hattie Larlham. Becky was known to be a kind, no-nonsense, go-getter of a nurse and she had many friends- in the residents, their families and her coworkers. She continued her care working at an out-patient clinic for these individuals and their families.

Perhaps her greater achievement that came out of her time at Kent State would be winning the heart of her loving, devoted husband, Alan. Both rebels at heart, their love story is one for the books. Through everything life threw at them, they continued to stand by each other. On November 3rd, 1984, Alan’s dream came true as Becky walked down the aisle and became his wife.

Laura Marek, age 100, passed peacefully at her home on August 27. She will be remembered for her strength, kindness, generosity and love of family and farm.

Laura was born January 8, 1926, in New Milford, Ohio, to Italian immigrants A.D. and Anna Roberto, from whom she learned to value family, hard work and her Italian heritage.

A Mantua-Shalersville resident for nearly 80 years, Laura worked side by side with late husband Lawrence to establish a family farm, still operated by son James. She was known for her family picnics and delicious holiday meals as well as her gardens of bountiful vegetables and beautiful flowers.

Laura is survived by sons Larry (Linda), Jim (Bonnie), Bill and Dave (Henni) Marek, daughter Liz (Bill) Felter and sister Mary Ellen Peterson. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren: Mike, Jeff, Joe, Philip and Peter Marek, Laura Miller, Gayle Hauptmann, Kelly Miller and Kristine Mackin. Laura was a great grandma of 11.

She was preceded by husband Lawrence and siblings Val Allen-Cowley, Mabel Lorelli, Elizabeth Jedlicka, Spart, Marc, Jim and Nick Roberto.

She will be missed. No calling hours or services.

Rebecca "Becky" Loos (nee Fowler), age 66, passed away on August 31, 2026. She was the beloved wife of Alan Loos, loving mother of Chris (Alex), Erin (Jay), and Amy, and proud grandmother of Riley, Benjamin, Milo, and Charlotte. She was the daughter of Daryl Fowler and the late Glenn Fowler, and dear sister of Wendy Walters. Rebecca was also the daughter-in-law of Dorothy Janosko and sister-in-law of the late Glenn Loos.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, September 5, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 p.m. at Green Funeral Care, 4668 Pioneer Trail, Mantua, OH 44255.

James L. "Jim" Chaykowski, age 60, passed away on August 28, 2026.

Jim leaves his son Ben (Alivia), brothers Bill (Jun) and Jeff (Dave) and mother Myrtle Case. He is preceded in death by his father Robert Chaykowski.

Jim had a creative spirit and a love for the arts that stayed with him throughout his life. In his younger years, he studied at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, where he spent time developing his passion for painting and photography. He also found great enjoyment in cooking and music. His taste in music was as unique as he was, ranging from Barbra Streisand to Metallica.

Later in life, Jim found a meaningful path in the mental health field, where he spent his career helping others. He had a heart for people and found purpose in being there for those who needed someone to listen and understand.

At home, Jim enjoyed the simple comfort of having his beloved cat, Cinders, by his side. Cinders was a special companion and brought Jim plenty of love and companionship over the years.

Jim will be remembered for his creativity, his many interests, his love of music and the arts, and most of all, for the people and things that meant the most to him. Jim shared many concerts with friends from high school, The Art of Institute and anyone who shared a love of the arts. He will be missed by his Pagan friends and nearby neighbors.

Emily Mae Baker, age 28, passed away unexpectedly on August 28, 2026.
Emily was the beloved daughter of Scott and Tiffany Baker and the cherished sister of Madelyn Anne Baker, Noah Scott Baker, Josiah Alexander Baker, and Lydia Rae Baker.

Emily spent most of her childhood in Mantua and was a proud graduate of Crestwood High School. She went on to pursue her passion for horses and studied Equine Science at Hocking College.

Emily had a deep love for animals, especially her cats, her horses, and her beloved dog, Monty. Her favorite horse, Cactus, held a particularly special place in her heart. She found joy in many things throughout her life, including theater, reading, sewing, and archery. She also had a special fondness for okapis and How to Train Your Dragon, reflecting her unique interests and wonderful imagination.

Emily will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.

Family and friends may gather for visitation on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 from 5pm-8pm at Green Funeral Care, 4668 Pioneer Trail, Mantua, OH 44255. Graveside services will take place on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at 10 a.m. at Hillside Cemetery, Prospect St., Mantua Village (PLEASE MEET AT THE CEMETERY).
