Your sinuses aren't the only thing working overtime this fall π€§
Minnesota ragweed season hits, and suddenly the whole family is sneezing, rubbing itchy eyes, and raiding the medicine cabinet. Kids come home from recess stuffed up. Parents are powering through workdays on half a box of tissues. And a lot of us just keep trying one allergy med after another, hoping the next one finally works.
Here's the thing: your immune system and nervous system work closely together. When your body is stressed and stuck in "fight or flight," it has a harder time adapting to things around it that should be harmless, like leaf mold and dust.
βοΈ Change your furnace filter before (or right after) you turn the heat on
βοΈ Rake leaves regularly so they don't sit and grow mold, and shower after leaf pile fun
βοΈ Run a HEPA air purifier in the bedrooms, especially the kids'
βοΈ Wash bedding weekly in hot water as we spend more time indoors
βοΈ Try a saline nasal rinse (always with distilled or boiled and cooled water, never straight tap)
βοΈ Regular neurologically focused chiropractic checks to help your nervous system get out of stress mode so your body can respond the way it was designed to
We're stocking up on tissues and allergy meds, let's not forget to support the system running the whole show!
