The pelvic floor is directly connected to the deep hip muscles, which means every time you walk or run, it is contracting and relaxing whether you are thinking about it or not.
When the hips are not moving well, that connection starts to cause problems. It also works in sync with the diaphragm. When the breathing pattern is off, the pelvic floor often tightens in response to help manage the pressure — and during high-impact activities like running, that tightening can lead to real symptoms.
It is a system, not just one isolated muscle group.
