We had fun this week celebrating fall with a Lumberjack day. Residents and staff wore flannel, we had an axe throwing competition and we enjoyed apple cinnamon donuts, and fall themed drinks. Here are some pictures, including Bill and Brook who won the gift baskets.

It’s National Healthcare Foodservice week and we’d like to take a moment to recognize what an important role these individuals play. They make such a difference everyday making delicious meals, serving food with a smile, remembering our residents favorites, and bringing joy to meal times. I could only capture a picture of part of our team but thanks to each one of you for the difference you make!

Our Housing Director, Angie, and activities team brought the fun for Assisted Living week. The theme this year was “Shining Through the Years” and both staff and residents shined! We celebrated the decades by reminiscing and posting events that happened during them, dressing up each day for different decades, having treats, playing trivia, as well as doing activities popular at that time. Some of the highlights were 70’s day; staff made tie-dye Harmony Gardens t-shirts and residents painted pet rocks! There was a lot of BIG hair on 80’s day and the snacks were pop rocks, animal crackers and nerds. What a flashback, they were a hit. Residents joined in the fun, Louise even broke out her clown club outfit from the past to bring more joy and laughter.

We held our annual car show on August 13th. Once again the Capitol City Car Club, family members and friends showed up to make the event a huge success! Thank you!!! I asked some of our residents if they would stand by their favorite cars. Check out all the pictures! Josh Quinn brought life to our party with beautiful music, and our chef Chris was the grill master making burgers and corn on the cob. A shout out to Grace Hospice who provided root b**r floats and volunteers to serve them. Last but certainly not least thanks to Mike, our amazing activities director who coordinated it all and thanks be to God for the beautiful day.

Fall is a wonderful time for reflecting on all we are thankful for. One of our biggest blessings at Harmony Gardens has been the addition of our new bus and bus driver, Luther. Thanks to each of you who donated to make this possible. We’ve had many outings including two trips to “Let’s Go Fishing St. Croix Valley”. What a wonderful program! The volunteers were outstanding and our residents had a great time!
