Memorial Day, also know as Decoration Day, is a federal holiday in the United States for honoring and mourning the military personnel who have died in the performance of their military duties while serving in the United States Armed Forces. We observe Memorial Day on the last Monday of May.

Many people visit cemeteries and memorials on Memorial Day to honor and mourn those who died. You may also see an American flag on the graves of military personnel who have died.

Annuals and Deer

Deer tend to ignore plants with milky sap and annuals with strong odors, like marigolds. They tend to avoid munching on plants with unusual textures, especially sharp thorns or spines on the stems or foliage. Many experts tend to claim that petunias are resistant to deer. Marigolds are a great deer-resistant option for your garden. Their strong fragrance deters browsing by deer, so planting them around your garden can create a natural, deer-resistant border.

REPELS-ALL® is another option. It does not harm the animal, it drives them away, naturally. This product is an reported to be an animal behavior modification tool.

Although given the right situation, deer may eat just about anything! But the following tend not to be bothered as much by deer:
Zinnias Globe Amaranth
Poppies Angel’s Trumpet
Vinca Amaranthus
Verbena Lantana
Ageratum Lobelia
Alyssum Marigold
Calendula Nasturtium
Cosmos Nicotiana
Dusty Miller Nierembergia
Heliotrope Salvia
