BIG news for Timmy! 🙌🏼💚🐢

After everything this sweet girl has been through, she’s making some amazing progress! This week, Timmy will be taken off her medications and moving into our tidal pool - a huge step toward getting stronger and closer to her next chapter! 🥹🌊

Our newest patient: Familia 💔

Another female loggerhead rescued after a devastating boat strike. We’re incredibly grateful to the rescuers, everyone who kept watch to make sure she was safely recovered, and FWC for helping save her.

The strike breached her lungs, and she’ll undergo a CT scan to determine whether her spinal column was also injured and whether this beautiful girl has a chance at survival 🙏🏼

As Mini Lobster Season continues, PLEASE help us protect these animals. Wear polarized sunglasses, appoint a wildlife spotter, and slow down in designated areas and nearshore waters. These turtles simply don’t stand a chance against a boat propeller 💔

🩵 Meet Mini

Our newest patient is a female loggerhead who was found floating at the surface with an older boat strike wound. She was named Mini in honor of Mini Lobster Season, but unfortunately, she arrived with a reminder of the dangers our sea turtles face on the water 💔

We started with X-rays and bloodwork, and Mini will be heading to the human hospital for a CT scan to determine whether her injury extends to her spinal column.

She has a long road ahead, but she’s in the right place now 🐢💙

Meet Ricardo 💚

Today, we welcomed a new patient after he suffered a devastating boat strike to his head and shell.

He was rushed for a CT scan, where we received one small piece of hopeful news: the impact missed his brain casing. His skull is fractured, and he’s still in critical condition, but that tiny bit of hope is something we’re holding onto.

A huge thank you to Islamorada Fire Rescue for keeping Ricardo safe until our team arrived ❤️

🦞 Mini Lobster Season is here, and our waters are busier than ever. Sadly, we’re already seeing the heartbreaking consequences, with sea turtles struck by boats and found dead on arrival 💔

Please help us keep them safe:

🐢 Wear polarized sunglasses
🐢 Assign a wildlife spotter
🐢 Slow down in shallow and nearshore waters

A few extra moments of caution could save a life.
