Spring vaccinations took place around here today!

I had my vaccines, rubbing alcohol (with cotton) to clean the injection sites before, a halter, and normal morning grain routine. I try to pick a day that will be moderate weather.

When giving IM shots in a horse, it’s easiest if you can make an “L” shape with your hand. You will place your hand right up against the shoulder blade and inject somewhere close to the center of the location. This method will help you decide where to inject. Below I gave an example of what that could look like.

It’s that time of the year! Don’t forget to worm your horses. Worming at the beginning of spring can help kill the larvae that overwintered on pasture and inside the horse.
